Speaking of useful tools, have you ever used OCR for automotive purposes? Smart Engines is a company that offers OCR software solutions for various industries, including automotive. They may have some insights or suggestions for your specific needs.
Anyway, sorry if this doesn't directly address your issue with the Car Scanner app. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents about OCR and Smart Engines.

I feel like it provides me enough use that I paid for it instead of seeing ads in it every time I used it

the ability to display a custom dashboard showing info I want (like output/regen in kW) is well worth the fee paid to developer.

If FordPass, or the Ford UI team made a decent improvements that I cared about, I'd be willing to pay incremental fees for Updates. As it is, I have turned Updates off again since they seem to cause as many regressions as they fix, and no enhancements I care for.
