I have been driving from Exeter to Portsmouth for 10 years. It does not become a 70 mph zone until you cross into Maine. In fact, before Exit 3, it becomes a 55. Where are you seeing a 70 mph sign? I'll look for it today on my way into work.

Nothing to do with your issue I know but you got my attention because you are talking about my backyard šŸ˜Š
Maybe it's that 55 zone then. I just know that I am going 65+ and then shortly after the Hampton toll I get slowed.

And I recognize that cyber MME, were we chatting at Nashua EV show? I have the space White.

Macher! My man!

Oh you know what, when I come off 101 through the tolls and first get onto 95 North, Waze thinks it's a 35mph zone until you drive under that first overpass right after the toll. I wonder if that is what is screwing with your girl. šŸ¤”

I had this trouble while driving on BC in Northern VA express lanes. Ironically they had many digital speed signs above the lanes at 65 which the car did not pick up. It would slam the brakes and bring the speed down to 55. Twice the drivers behind me were surprised.

I turned BC off to be safe.

Iā€™m honestly not sure why you would want the speed recognition / adjustment on. You can literally just turn that single item off and get all the other benefits of BlueCruise / ACC without dumb behavior like that.
One of the great benefits of the adaptive cruise is that it recognizes speed limits and changes. I live in a rural area where just a 9 mile trip to the market I go through 9 speed zones. I do get on 1/8 mile stretch that is 55, but the mapping drops to 30 by mistake. I also have a area where the limit is 35 and when I pass a intersecting road the car goes to 40 till I pass the next sign.
But I still love the ACC overall.

The feature is useless (and even dangerous) in Illinois. After every speed limit sign there is a speed limit sign for trucks...which is 10 to 15 mph slower. Car speeds up and immediately slows down.

I'm not going to tell you to turn it off. But I've never seen the usefulness in speed sign recognition on the highway. I think it's great for long drives on state roads that constantly go through towns where the speed limit drops to 25mph and goes back up to 50mph. But on the highway, speed limits are generally the same for large portions of travel. I'd rather just manually adjust the speed setting occasionally on the highway than deal with it slamming on the brakes.
I have a ā€œheavy footā€, so I use cruise control pretty religiously on my daily commute to avoid speeding tickets. The speed limit on my route changes 11 times, and police like to hang out in the areas it changes. I use IC so that I donā€™t forget to change speeds at one of those areas and end up getting ticketed. IC is far more valuable to me than BC will ever be.

in Michigan, they often post car and truck speed limits on the same sign, and very rarely does my Mach E select the wrong one. Iā€™d think it would see the word Truck and know to ignore that sign. Is that not so?

An open letter to @Ford Motor Company - If you're reading this, you're likely on the social media team, and aren't allowed to respond to this type of post. But I'm just trying to get some attention on this. So please pass this on internally!

I use BC with intelligent cruise control every day for my commute. For the most part it works very well, but there is a section of the interstate near my home that is incorrectly mapped. The speed limit is 70 MPH, but for a section near my house the internal map data shows 50MPH. The result is every time I pass that section of road, my car SLAMS on the brakes in the middle of the freeway to match the 50MPH speed limit. Then a few moments later, it sees the physical speed limit sign for 70MPH and speeds up again. Rather dangerous behavior if there's any amount of traffic.

The mapping data comes from Here technologies, not Ford. I submitted a map correction months ago, but it has been ignored and is continually "under review". I know I'm not the only one who has run into this issue.

True this is a problem "technically" caused by Here, and not Ford. But the buck has to stop somewhere, and this is a Ford product in the end. If there was an accident caused by this behavior that would be a Ford problem. So Ford. PLEASE fix it. Hold HERE accountable for map updates, or fix the data yourselves, as this is making YOU look bad.

Forum members. If you have had a similar issue write below! Let's get some attention and light on this issue!

PS - PLEASE do not say "Turn off intelligent CC". That's not the solution here. That's a just a band-aid. This feature is rock solid most of the time. So let's just get it the rest of the way there!

My 2021 Mach-e has done the same thing. It seemed to stop when I got the last update. But the latest update won't download. Be sure you have the latest updates for your car. I've still got the camera issue where all of my automated features turn off due to a crimp in a wire for my camera. Ford can't get enough inventory in order to send a new wire.

In my town we have lots of jumps of speed limit signs from 25-40 going back and forth and my Mach E would sometimes read "25 MPH limit ahead" as the current limit so would jump all over in speed ... You don't need to disable Blue Cruise to disable the "match posted speed limit" setting... That way it will match whatever speed limit you set it at though it is up to you to then slow down or increase the limit on any roads where it changes after you set it. To me the "match posted speed limit" setting was always far too abrupt anyway...

Is disabling "match posted speed limit" (or whatever it is called; I sold my Mach E 9 months back) a viable option for you?

Drives me crazy. On a long road trip I found it mistook Interstate signs for speed limit signs, leading to some strange experiences. Interstate 40 was the worst - would see that sign and slam on the breaks. Scarier still - we have a new freeway extension on the east side of Durham - 885. It reads that as an 85 mph speed limit and accelerates (speed limit is 65 - 70 depending on the section of the hwy.

I also find many states are now putting speed limit signs on top of a yellow triangular shaped sign - and, the car doesn't see those as speed limit signs at all.

Darn it! Now I can't say anything at all...

But in all honesty, I had the same problem with other mfgs and there was never a solution. Good luck but I haven't heard of anyone getting anywhere with any of these issues.
Just curious - do you have speed sign recognition turned on? Is there a 50 MPH sign around the area where the vehicle slows down?
In Texas they love to build toll roads on top of existing highways with speed limits much higher than the existing one. The lower speed limit signs are often visible from the elevated highway so if you have speed limit sign recognition on, you get whip-sawed between the toll road and highway signs. Additionally I donā€™t like they way it aggressively brakes when speed limits ramp down, as when approaching a town on rural roads. For these reason I find the automatic CC adjustments too much a PITA.

I get the same thing on the south end of the Maine Turnpikeā€¦. In the Truck weigh station intervalā€¦. Im trucking along at 70 in Cruze control, and then it slams down to 35 mphā€¦. If a truck was behind me, id be slammedā€¦. This happens every time I hit this intervalā€¦.. Ford NEEDS to fix these disparitiesā€¦.

Be glad it didn't choose 88...you might be not be in 2023 anymore!

I had the breaking issue for over a year but it wasnā€™t due to the speed limits, it was due to the kink in wire to the camera in the windshield. Short term the dealer unkinked it and awaiting a new wire. If it wasnā€™t for this forum, I wouldnā€™t have known about it. The dealerships are not up to date on known issues.
