Since this afternoon I’ve had no luck with CarPlay. Wireless CarPlay won’t connect, I’ve deleted it from both the car and the car from Bluetooth on my phone as well as reset SYNC. Despite all of this no luck. If I plug it via USB it doesn’t work and I get an error of USB device not connected. Tried turning car on and off as well.

No real clue what the next step is.

There are a handful of similar reports about this over in one of the Reddit subs. There was an iOS update recently (26.3.1). If you've rebooted sync and the phone, id wager that was the cause. After 5 years with this car I’ve discovered that the vast majority of CarPlay issues are traceable to Apple.

Try a USB cord and see if that works.

I had an issue with my phone as a key working with the most recent update. I got so frustrated that it no longer works that I gave up and use the key fob. I tried everything to get it to work with no avail. What’s odd is the apple CarPlay woks but the phone as a key doesn’t work. Very frustrating. I wish Ford would not send updates without checking to make sure it will not cause issues with some users!

Restart your infotainment using the volume down plus forward buttons on the steering wheel.

turn off WiFi on your phone.

Connect the phone via USB

see if that works.

They do. There is ab extensive alpha and beta testing program using Ford’s internal fleets plus employee vehicles. There’s also an very large early access program that tests tye release candidates.

In the op’s case, its almost certain that the problem lies with Apple, not Ford.

Not 26.3.1. My wife runs that and it works. I’m running 26.4 beta 3 (developer) and it works

Not everyone will have the same experience. Some users will have bugs regardless of beta testers' experiences or other users' experiences with the release.

Ok if you say so. 26.3.1 is the same software for everyone. Apple doesn't make different versions of iOS 26.3.1 The only thing that would make it different is your settings or an app causing issues.

You're new at this aren’t you? Software bugs creep out every single general release, regardless of how well or extensively, or on how many different models of iPhone (in this case) it was tested. It wouldn’t be the first time that Apple broke CarPlay, it won’t be the last.

New? Whatever! I get there are bugs but if that is the case then it would affect more people than it does. Has to be another issue going on

It was after I updated the car, not my phone. I think it’s the car update that caused the problem.
