I've noticed when I'm playing Sirius XM through the car and my phone is connected via CarPlay, the radio will stop playing if I open Twitter (and possibly other apps). It doesn't seem to play any audio at all when this occurs, though it's possible my phone is on silent. I'm able to switch back to Sirius XM manually or it will switch back in a moment if I close the app.

Has anyone else experienced this? I couldn't locate any setting to manage this.

Yep, annoying, but that’s how it is. Disable carplay on your iPhone if you don’t want alerts sent to the car.

Also, listen to SiriusXM via the iPhone app via CarPlay instead of through the car's built-in receiver. The audio quality is WAAAAAAY better via the streaming app, especially if you go into the app settings and set the streaming quality to Maximum.

It does this for apps that use the microphone. I turned off dictation/microphone permission for apps that "listen" but I never use the mic on. Like Twitter, Waze, etc.

It’s not the mic access that causes it. It happens because there is media that has access to the speakers within Twitter and other apps, also happens when scrolling through websites that auto play media and ads.
