Carplay Opens "Phone" App

Whenever I hit the carplay button it opens the phone app, which is pretty much never what I want [and makes a mistap to call someone more likely]. Is there is a setting to just open the home screen with the icons either on the phone or car?

I believe if CarPlay is connected and you want to switch from a different car related app/dashboard, you need to use the small CarPlay symbol on the top “header” of the center display.

Tap the home screen icons on this iPhone menu and you can move them into the positions you want.

Check the Shortcuts app on your iPhone. There might be one created to open the phone app when CarPlay connects.

The CarPlay tile at the bottom is actually the phone app. Hence the phone icon on the button. If you disable CarPlay it becomes the regular Bluetooth phone app. So if you press it, it will go into the phone app within CarPlay.

If you want to go back to your current CarPlay app, you need to press the CarPlay button on the top of the screen next to the camera button.

Thanks! I didn't notice the small icon on top, only the "main" one which turned out to be the phone app on the bottom bar of the three most recently used screens. The icon on top works how I expect it to.
