I have a reoccurring intermittent problem with CarPlay.
I get into the car and the music starts to play from my phone through CarPlay.
However I get a screen indicating CarPlay is not functioning and there is no ability to select any other app. Going to start CarPlay shows a screen that says CarPlay is working (and music is playing) but it is not working properly. An iPhone screen capture shows the two screens of CarPlay working correctly.
Ford tell me to take it to my dealer. I know they cannot fix it as it is a bug.
I now know how to get it working, I tell CarPlay to disconnect and then tell it to connect and normal function returns. However this is a PIA.
Has anyone else had this problem?
There seems to be no Ford bug reporting system.

For me, when this happens, if I switch to radio and back to CarPlay, it'll use come back up. I was also having a weird issue because Bluetooth was trying to connect and was kind of racing CarPlay to try and connect before and it would cause weird bugs. I deleted my phone and deleted the Mach-E connection in my phone's Bluetooth settings, too, then repaired CarPlay and it has been working about 90% of the time. I sometimes still get your bug, but going to radio and back usually fixes it.

Yep, I been getting this from a long time now. The easiest solution is the APIM reset from the steering wheel buttons (Volume down+ FF>>).
At every power up the connection seems to improve, I used to reset at least 3 times a week, after the latest OTA I only had to do it once in a couple weeks (forgot the number of the OTA, but it is the one that added the CarPlay in portrait mode)

I don't think this is only a Ford issue. I remember that on my Sony aftermarket, the CarPlay would not connect if I connected the phone via Bluetooth. I think both CarPlay and BT compete for connection. unfortunately there is no way to use the wireless CarPlay without enabling the BT connection on Ford.

Yeah, I find that carplay is incredibly slow to load at each startup of the car, and sometimes never loads and has to be reset, which in itself is a huge gamble. The reset sometimes works. Sometimes technology advances before it works properly, and then the process then keeps repeating with more bugs and worse behavior. To be able to rely on things working as expected, seems further away than ever. yeah, I'm a little pessimistic..
