Had the charger installed today (Grizzl-e Classic).

Install is on the garage wall about halfway between the door and the back wall.

Plenty of cable 25' to reach my car when it is on the driveway.

So, the question, I am not thrilled with the idea of the weight of the garage door resting on the cable.

Has anyone encountered this situation and come up with a better solution than a couple of blocks of wood on either side of the cable?

I have a Grizzle-e inside my garage and charge outside in the driveway. The garage door sits right on the cable. Hasn't been an issue in the 3 years I've owned the car.

Most garage doors let you set the closed position.... put a puffy seal on the bottom, if it doesn't have one, and set the close position just as the seal touches the ground. This will keep the weight of the door off the cable, but still appear "closed" with no gaps.

My EVSE is at the front of the garage. I just lead the cord in the gap between the garage floor slabs. I also cut a groove on one side of one of the garage slabs so that a car on the other side of the driveway can be charged. ??

Good or bad, when I bought my house there was a gap between the door seal and the wall. Another reason not to store mouse food in my garage.
I installed my charger on the front wall next to the vertical track and the cable is long enough to reach no matter what direction the car is facing.

I just put a 6 inch long piece of 2x4 where the door closes. It thinks it's closed and there's no pressure on the cord.

My solution was to install a amp 240V repaired breaker and to extend that breaker to the driveway area of my house just outside my garage installing a 50 amp Mima connector inside an electrical box that I bounced to the wall. I follow all code in doing this and now I have a way not only to charge the EV but to power my RV if I need to. Other people will put a hole in the wall, just big enough to run the cord through. And then mount the charger handle holder to the outside wall. I’ve seen this done using a simple rain deflector like you might find on a dryer vent exhaust. The key is to make sure that the cable running through the wall never rubs against anything. You will wanna come up with a solution that retains the cable so it’s not moving while in the wall because the rubbing will wear out the cable

This is probably a sufficient solution in areas where security is not a concern or an areas where mice and rats are not a concern.

The jacketing on the cords are tough and durable. Just run it out the door
