Went to Fargo the other day, used to charge free at the city hall, but now the cartel must have moved in and it seems like every place wants $5 hookup and $.30/min. In the cold my GTPE usually only makes around 40kw/hr at these 62kw/hr chargers. With the lower winter efficiency, it figures out to around the equivilant of 26mpg for the trip, that's not very impressive and that includes some cheap home charging. Conclusion, must stay away from per minute chargers in the winter??

It would depend on what your $/kWh rate is otherwise.

See some places are getting to $.40/kw but even that would beat the $.30/min especially with the hookup charge.

Yes, but then it would come down to how much charge you needed. Charging at home beats out charging away from home in almost all cases unless some discount/freebie is involved.

I figure in the 18k that I drove this year I saved roughly $2500 over gas for a similar ICE rig, mostly charging at home and some free charging offsetting some of the expensive charging. That's figuring a mustang averaging 20mpg which might be a stretch for a 450hp car, depends on how it's driven. That means if I put on 18k/year and nothing changes this sucker won't owe me dime if I live to 100! Course it would have over 500k so there might be some expense getting there, haha
