I haven’t had the charge port issue but every time I use an auto car wash I find bits of the brush stuck in trim pieces. I also noticed some windshield scratching. I think I will use the old fashion hand one or touchless spray for quick washes or Russel Speeder’s expensive but worth it “hand wash” where the car is in a track but washed by humans . Effective but gentle and the do a good wipe down and vac of the interior.

I had a ceramic added just after purchase, so only manual car washes for me.... that said, when dealing with cross winds on nice flat tracks at/near triple digit speeds, I have had it open twice.

Maybe Fords way of telling me to not test the upper limits????

Not sure I would call it a “major” design issue. “Major” design issues include:
- the nano frunk introduced in MY25
- the super-mega-ultra-multi stock (also a MY25 gift).
- decontenting over the years to include the removal of park assist, hands-free liftgate, etc)
The charge port door opening during a high-pressure car wash seems pretty serious to me. :)

Maybe the chargeport is IP6 rated, so lots of water spraying in isn't a big deal, but still, it's pretty nerve-racking.

Happened to me twice out of many many washes. Now I put a piece of painter tape over the door before going to the wash.
Me too, and the rear wiper arm just for good measure.

Never had that issue since I always do a 2-bucket hand wash.

I haven't had an issue yet. My preferred car wash gives the option between soft touch and touchless. I always choose touchless per the recommendation of a body shop manager. For those of you who have had the door pop open, was anyone using touchless? I'm thinking that might actually make it happen more often because maybe it's greater water pressure. Just asking so I know whether I need to throw some painters tape in the car.
