Charging Issue with Tesla

It is very frustratrating because no one seems to have a clear answer.

I have been able to charge on regular j 1772 chargers that are near me. (I tried three different locations).

Unfortunately, the destination chargers near me only allow Tesla's, so I can't determine the issue. Does anyone know where to find the updates that Ford has made to vehicles that clearly explains what they did. I have only seen small tidbits or summaries in my car and on the app.

Are all of them Gen 3? The Gen 2 units can’t be set to only allow Teslas.

This is a dumb question, but is there any easy way to determine that? Using the Tesla app, I just search for chargers that are open to non-Telsa cars. Only one location within reasonable distance appears, but it is a private residence.

I use teslatap adapters frequently. I have a lectron 40amp adapter and a teslatap mini 60amp adapter. Both require being plugged into the Tesla charge cord first, left alone for 30 seconds, then plugging into the MME. Is this the process you are following?

Gen 3 units are white. Gen 2 units are gray. The Tesla app is just telling you that the owners of those chargers have said that they’re only for Teslas, not that they won’t work with other cars. Find a Gen 2 unit in a public place and give it a try.

Thank you! This is good to know. I do follow the 30 second process but still no luck. I ordered a lectron adapter so hopefully it turns out that my Tesla tap adapter is faulty.

It was the adapter. I ordered a Lectron adapter and the car took the charge at home.

I spoke with Tesla Tap mini, apparently there is a safety switch that somehow got activated. They think it may be due to being dropped. (I don't recall dropping the adapter, but either way, they said that the car wasn't able to charge due to that).
