Has anyone signed up for a Tesla membership yet and sucessfully charged at membership rates? I signed up for a membership and have tried to charge 3 times, and each and every time, the Ford Pass app accepts the charge and not the Tesla app. The last time i tried to charge by starting the charge from the Tesla app before i plugged the car in, i got the attached error. Any suggestions?

If i allow the fordpass app to accept the charge (Plug and play), it charges fine, but at the maximum fee, rather than at the membership reduced fee, so i know the car can charge at these superchargers.

Did you turn off plug and charge in FordPass?

So, yes, but when i do, the app crashes. Then, when the app reboots, P&C gets turned back on. I guess i'll need to try again.

Have you successfully charged at membership rates?

Not with the adapter, mine is scheduled to show up Thursday. But a couple of years ago I drove from Southern California to Texas and back. On the way back, I used up my free charging and wanted to use the EA member rate, so I turned off P&C. But, again, that was back in the fall of 2021.

Just tried turning it off just now on my iPhone and it was successful, no crashing. Turned it back on and it's showing EA and Tesla again. Not sure why yours would crash. Maybe just try to usual troubleshooting, like restarting your phone, etc. Maybe others have seen something like this and can chime in.

From your suggestion, "Maybe just try to usual troubleshooting, like restarting your phone, etc.", i did reboot the phone a moment ago, and i was successful in shutting off P&C. I'll try to charge again in a couple of hours.

However, the question is still open, "Has anyone signed up for a Tesla membership yet and sucessfully charged at membership rates?"

It would be a real confidence booster to hear that someone else has had success at this, so please let me know if you have!

I don't have the Tesla membership, but I have charged by activating in the Tesla app even with Plug&Charge still on. I just activated the session in the Tesla app and then plugged in. I can then monitor the session in the Tesla app.

This absolutely did not work for me. I tried several times. I'll see what happens at my next stop. I'm on the first day of a 4600 mile trip, so would like to optimize charging costs with membership rates if I can. But, I have to say, charging at Tesla stations (using plug and charge at the full cost) has been very, very good. So much better to pull up to 15 of 16 working stations with 2 Teslas charging than to pull up to 2 of 4 EA chargers working with a line of people waiting.

I just had a thought - does Tesla charge your credit card for every charging session? Or do you have to "pre-load" the app with some funds to start a charging session?

There are individual charges on my card. And because we have been doing various test sessions, I have a bunch of small charges... 59 cents, $1.51, etc. ?

Rebooting my phone and then shutting off plug and charge worked! I was able to start the charging session in the Tesla app, and i am getting membership pricing.

Charging rates on Tesla stations have been fantastic. Starts at 158 kW and ramps down from there.

Thanks for all the help.

Use your Tesla app with your Tesla membership for now to get the discounted rate.
Ford is working on that issue now by asking EA members if they would like to use their memberships with Tesla and Electrify America while using their FordPass app. I am glad that they working for that convenience.
Also the same is true with EA access Pass+ members. Use the EA app to get your discounted rate.
Let us see what Ford will do to give us this convenience.

True. But i also found I must shut off Fordpass plug and charge, contrary to the experience Mache VLOG had.

It's working great, now. I don't plan use any non-Tesla chargers this trip unless i get in a bind. This is the way charging should be. I'm quickly becoming a fan.
