It looks as if those who have stickers that show 150 have models that the extended range battery is the standard version.

For the few minutes at very low SoC where you can actually get close to 150kw I don't think this will make a material difference in your charging times at DCFC.
MME ER packs will hit 150kW+ at like 40-45% SoC. It’s a time-based charging profile that isn’t as dynamic as SoC %.

Sadly, I've never hit 150kw unless I was below 20%. I keep thinking mine came with gremlins intent on making my charging experience worse. Lol

I know it's been quiet in the thread but hoping to get a reality check...I have a 22 GTPE and I'm in Vegas where temps are mostly high 50's/60's this time of year.

When fast charging and starting at, say, 20%, it seems as if I max out at about 100kw which quickly settles in between 85-90kw. Once I get to 80%, it drops to about 35kw.

All that said, do I have a charger issue that may need to be looked at if I can't get anywhere near 150? Like...ever? I'd be thrilled to even see 120-130 but not sure what ideal conditions would have to be at this point.

Thanks!

May have nothing to do with your car. It could be the charging station that's only capable of pushing that much out.

I have seen instances where depending on the number of chargers a location has, throughput gets cut as more cars are using the station.

The infrequent fast chargers I use are rated 50kWH, so I never get close to having problems. No Electrify America chargers in my immediate area.

Just drove to CA and to your point, went to an EA station I hadn't previously visited, hit 135kw at about 30% and then tapered down to about 110 after 40. Glad to see triple digits so "phew!".

I read your initial post and it sounded like a charger limitation. Glad you discovered a better charger. Heck, I'm just happy you found a WORKING charger!

Funny you say that, I was at a bank of 2 EA chargers and there were 4 other chargers about 50 yards further out in the lot. I was charging just fine and this guy drives by in a pickup asking how things were going? He said he worked for EA and the 2 chargers I was at were brand new but people at the other 4 complained that they couldn't get over 40kw.

This seems to be extremely common at EA; there are only a handful of chargers (typically 4-8 vs 8-16 at a typical Tesla station), at least 1 or 2 are always nonfunctional, and using the remaining chargers are always a bit stressful, wondering if I'll get full charging capacity or if it will even connect properly without having to call EA to troubleshoot and reboot/reset.

I used to have a Model S and while I love my Mach-E, the on the road charging experience always is a point of anxiety for myself and my family. EA needs to improve their maintenance greatly; there is no excuse to have chargers down at virtually every station I travel to when they have such a limited number of chargers per site to begin with.

I wanted to check that the DCFC cabaility worked since I recently received my GTPE. I visited an EA station that had 6 chargers available, and since no one was there, so i pulled up to the 350 kW charger. I couldn’t remember what the charging rate limit was, so I chose the 350 kW one (still learning charging etiquette) since I was the only one there. My SOC was fairly high (started at 62%).

I forgot to bring my OBD2 reader, so I didn’t check what the battery temp was, or what the car said the charging rate was. The max rate the EA charger showed was 63 kW. FordPass said it took 21 minutes to charge from 62% to 78%. Since I thought this was slow (only my first DCFC, and used to friends Teslas) I looked for what what the charging rate should be and found this chart that seemed to match what I experienced. I think Ford has raised the charging rate above 80% now, no those numbers above 80% may be a little off. I’ll keep this handy and see what I get the next time.

It would be awesome if I could charge at 150kW for a sustained period of time. I’d be able to get from 10% to 90% in about 30mins. Sadly that takes closer to an hour under normal circumstances. The good news is that my battery should last at least 75 years thanks to Ford’s conservative charging curve.
