I'm having a strange issue with setting a charging limit up.

My power provider charges a flat $0.08 per kilowatt hour, regardless of time of day, so it really doesn't matter when I charge.

But I do want to limit it to 80% max charge. So I've tried setting up charge schedule in the app, with the time set to "anytime" and the limit at 80%. I've also tried setting it up in the car, with one charge window that's 12am-12am.

Either way, it does work and it stops at 80%. But now whenever I get home it gives me an error on the car screen the says "charging Settings Conflict, the car will have to charge outside of preferred hours to reach desired limit by departure"

Any ideas of a better way to do this?

I think it is best to set your schedule in the car vs the app. Get in the car while you are at that location and see what your settings say. Is the entire clock illuminated blue or is it blank? While in the car, change your charge schedule to start at 2:30 am and run up to 2:00 am and see if that makes any difference.

Do you have any departure times set? If so, those will override everything and the car will make sure the battery is at 80% by that time.

I've set it to have the whole clock blue, so it's basically a 24 hour window.. that's a good idea to leave a small gap though. Maybe I'll try that, cause it doesn't seem to like the 24 hours.. i just wish there was a way to set a charge limit without scheduling charge times.

Yes I do have a departure time set up, so maybe that's why it complains but still charges.

If there isn't enough time to reach your set charge limit before your departure time then you are going to get that message. Just a quirk in the charge priority hierarchy.

Well that's the weird part.. i think the 24 hour window is what's throwing it off.. it has had MORE than enough time to get to 80 when it gave me that warning.

Basically I come home at 8pm with 50% charge, and an 8am departure time. It gives me the warning, then charges to 80% by like 3am ?‍♂

If I don't set up or use a charging schedule, is there a way to limit the charge to an amount, e.g., 90%? I have a wired ChargePoint in my garage, and I just want to plug it in anytime and have a 90% limit. I know with a schedule set and charging within that schedule I can set a 90% limit, per the Owner's Manual. But no limit when a one-off charge. Thanks...

You have to set a schedule to be able to set the max battery percentage, but you can set the schedule to “Any Time”.

Change your schedule from midnight to midnight. Instead use noon to noon. Your charge window, as set, ends at midnight. And your car won’t be fullly charged by then. The car isn’t quite smart enough to realize that a new charging window starts at midnight. Just that the current window ends at midnight and it won’t be completed by then.

Thanks for the replies...I broadened my sked and that solved the max charge question.
