Hi, So for example: if my GOM reads 20 miles and battery level is say 45% can I run it down to 20% and not worry even if GOM says 0 miles ?

Yes.

However, you wouldn't get that combination. It's more likely to show the opposite: battery level 20%, GOM 45 miles. If you have 20% battery, the GOM will not say 0 miles. The your battery gets low, the two track together well like this:
