The whole fob should be simplified. One button is enough, how hard could it be to program a button to count pushes. One push: sound an alarm, two pushes: unlock the doors, three pushes: lock the doors, four pushes: start the car, five pushes: stop the car, six pushes: call roadside assistance, seven pushes: call 911. Easy.
Geez! Talk about first world problems!!!!! LOL

I’m with @invertedspear on this one. From PAAK to remote start it seems like Ford wants to drive us to using the FordAss app. At least every other FordAss function is recreated on the fob or in the car. Remote start has no alternate to FordAss so at least it’s the one thing the app reliably gets correct.
And FordPass currently isn’t a complete solution because you can’t open the frunk with FordPass. It’s like they WANT you to use both at the same time ?

How hard could it be to program a remote start into the key fob.
3 quick pushes on the unlock button starts the car and runs it for 15 minutes ....... If nobody enters and pushes the start button it shuts off.

What is the range of the fob. Would it start my car if I’m 75 feet away and with 3 walls and 2 doors in between.

I had an aftermarket remote start on my Ford Edge Sport and it would start the car from inside WalMart and heat it for 10 minutes before shutting off

Well, you should think about that. Besides the obvious here of the ability to start your car, the car has E911, which uses YOUR phone to call when the airbags deploy. Without a phone connected to BT, it doesn't function.

Even if you don’t associate your FordPass app with PaaK in your car, as long as your car has been associated with your FordPass account you can use the FP app to remote start your car. You just can’t unlock or open the car with the app if PaaK isn’t active. ??

I discussed this with my Wife, she is OK with it. I always use remote start on key fob to start my Lariat, but she never uses remote start. so she can live with it. But the stupid crap they took off the car just don't make sense.

Even if you were a person who isn't waiting for a Mach e, you're still reading that right.

You don't have to be on your phone at dinner to use the app to remote start your car, you know. Once everyone has stood up, as people faff about getting their stuff together, then you can use your phone app to remote start your car, if you so desire.

I'm trying to think of a scenario where starting with the key fob is better than using the app. If you're out and about, the limited range of the fob makes it kind of pointless to remote start, since you'll be in the car before it does much. If you're at home, set a departure time so you don't need to remote start, or hit the app before you pour your last cup of coffee on the way out the door.

I feel like spousal conversations, comments on "stupid crap" and WTH utilization is evidence of significant concern and worry about the issue. It's a pretty easily solvable concern, and one that, to me at least, warrants about 1.4 seconds of thought. Which puts this post way way over budget.
