One thing I forgot to mention - for various reasons I have only 10,700 miles on the car even though I am approaching three years. So, with such low miles, should I still replace the battery at 3 years?
I have 2021 Premium eRWD, bought new back then. Only 20k miles on it and never once thought of having to replace my 12 volt battery.

A little preventative maintenance is never a bad thing IMO but $675 to change out the battery seems a little steep to me.

Replacing it yourself is pretty straight forward if you have done it before on other vehicles. It's no different on the Mach-E just remember to order some replacement clips for the beauty covers because inevitably one of them is going to go flying off into the abyss of the front motor compartment never to be seen again........ask me how I know.
yeah $675 is insane.

It is time to do it. Don't procrastinate. They can fail without warning.

Wondering how many 2022’s have had failed batteries. Most of the post highlight 2021 models so curious if it’s really old batteries manufactured in 2020 or early 2021.

And I believe they are about $30 in a package of four.
Locking pins Part Number: W720957S300 package of 4 at Fordparts.com was $17 delivered to my local dealer a few weeks ago. Avoid ebay because same part number may only get you one clip even though photo shows 4.

I put a dab of silicon caulk under each pin hoping they will be less likely to fly away in the future ?.

I got my BAGMH3 battery also from Fordparts.com delivered to dealer for $132 after returning core. Install didn't take long. You might need a deep socket for the negative chassis bolt. I used torque wrenches because I can be OCD about that. Followed Mach-Lee's instructions. Didn't need to remove frunk tub.

I ended up changing ours when it was a little more than three years old with a little less than 20,000 miles. I actually had Carista, which indicated that the battery life is pretty decent. However, it just was not worth the risk, especially because our car is parked front facing in the garage against the wall.

I have a 2021 purchased January 2021. It has 19,000 miles. I would never thought of replacing it until it doesn't start just like every other car I have owned. I am really glad I read this. But, please educate me. What happens if it dies so different than an ICE vehicle? What is it used for?

It is used for all the accessories (interior lights, headlights, audio system, cameras, etc.). It is used to open all of the doors and the hatch.

If it dies, you cannot open a car door. You have to use the leads in the front bumper to open the frunk, and then you can get access to the battery by pulling off the covers. But it isn't a pleasant experience.

Why would you want to go through that instead of just replacing it proactively?

I would make this a high priority if your family members are driving the car. I would never want my wife stranded because I didn't replace the 12V battery.

This is my wife’s car now - I had it for the first two years. She’s had it for the last year. For
me, the biggest things are that if that 12V dies, you can’t open anything and have to go through the front bumpers to pop frunk open. My fatass may not fit between the wall and the car and I’d have to get one of my kids to do it. Then, you need to remove all of those plastic covers. If this was a forever car, I might have drilled a hole in the plastic like someone suggested years ago - I’m not that handy and am likely to screw it up. I did it for piece of mind.

Thank you all for the updates - 2023 GTPE - with your advice I will schedule a warranty check b4 it expires 36 monthes or 36k and ask for the 12v battery to be checked and hopefully replaced .

and if it is not I will replace battery and add a dongle for a suitable trickle charger
as I understand a trickle charger must be a certain type of? Low amps .?

I have 70k on my 2 year mache (Nov 27th 2022). Is this 3 year warranty on this battery subjected to mileage? I do have an extended warranty until 75k... no idea if this would be covered though.
