Hi all,

Last week, my connected vehicle settings started intermittently conking out. Then, on Tuesday, it stopped working altogether. As a result, it is no longer communicating with the FordPass App (the app tells me the vehicle is 73% charged - it is not - and will start charging at 1am on Wednesday... it is now Friday). I can therefore no longer charge the vehicle at home when not in charging hours AND it sometimes doesn't charge in those hours. When I click on Connected Vehicle Settings in the car (2023Mach-eX), no menu populates. It either cycles back to the menu or gives me the script I am attaching in the photo in this post - it is an issue in the vehicle, not with the FordPass app. I took it in to the dealership today who spent 6 hours updating modules, found no errors and then sent me home. Still not fixed and I am not sure it will charge this weekend. Anyone have any ideas? Should I factory reset the software? No technicians back at dealership until Monday...

Are you seeing this symbol (modem) at the top of the main screen ?
Are you or have you been getting OTAs ?
Do you have a stuck/incomplete OTA ?
Have you tried toggling the modem off/on ?
Have you tried connecting to wi-fi to see if that could be a temporary fix ?
I hope you don't feel Im talking down to you .Sometimes when we get frustrated we forget to try the obvious solutions .
Im no expert but I am on my second Mach and both have had modem issues.
To answer your original question about resetting ....I would try resetting Sync first then IMO you really have nothing to lose by doing a battery pull seeing as you've already been to the dealer .
One last Hail Mary would be to ask for one of the crew on the forum to look up your VIN and see what it shows . Id do that first then try the resets if VIN check comes back clean.

Do you happen to see any signs of mice ?
Some members here have had them infiltrate the car and chew through wires which cause all sorts of issues

No mice for sure! I have been getting OTAs, but no new ones since the end of March I think... I have toggled the WIFI off and on... I have tried connecting to WIFI. I don't feel talked down to at all :)

I will look for that two arrow symbol (my wife is out w the car RN). What would that signify?

When I go to RESET and click on reset for FORDPASS, nothing happens. If i click in RESET ALL, then it gives me the warning that if I proceed I will lose all my settings...

That symbol is the modem communicating .If you don't see it on upper right then Id assume the modem isn't connecting and you have your answer ...its the modem and probably needs reset or replaced .
In my 21 they reset it and all was right with the world after that . I think same thing needs to be done with my new 23 GT .

First time this started happened to me I went through the pulling the negative cable on the battery, and then when that didn’t work, I pulled I forget which fuses it was 11 and 19 something like that and then it started working. Then it stopped giving me up-and-down arrows again and I just gave up. Then what I noticed is the next day I started it they showed up and then they’d be fine all day. The next day they might be gone, and then I would start the car and go somewhere and they’d be there again. I just stopped worrying about it. Eventually it started working and it is an often on thing. I’ve just left it alone and it just comes back then goes away again. Am I getting updates not right now so I’ve just ignored it. I got tired of trying to figure it out, but the modem is working because it does come back.

Yeah, like I said, I’ve got the incomplete and the dealer couldn’t get anything to do over the air so the other dealer I was saying earlier is going to set me up with an F150 no charge while they got my vehicle for a day or so till it downloads updates. Same car as you 23 GT.

Since the vehicle is no longer able to communicate at all with the app, I assume the modem is busted. HOPEFULLY this is a quick fix at the dealership :)

It's interesting that you have a 23 also . So far that's 3 for 3 23s with some sort of modem issue on this thread alone

How involved was it for them to replace your modem? I take it they have to order one from Ford?

One last thing . Do you have the latest FordPass version ? Down south we're on version 5 . Id assume you guys would get the same but If I knew what I was talking about Id have the Tesla update completed ?
One last last thing . If you have a smart charger can you start the charge using it instead of FordPass or initiate the charging session from inside the car ?

How involved was it for them to replace your modem? I take it they have to order one from Ford?
Im not sure if they replaced the 21s modem or just tinkered with it but that process took maybe an hour or two . I waited on the car and then drove home and the updates that I wasn't getting started rolling in fast and furious . Tech said he'd email me the paperwork on what services they performed but never did and I didn't care much because the car was working again correctly

Hey, I do have the latest ford pass. I have a FLO charger so it has to be through the car. Just spoke with Ford and Fordpass, they are sure it is the modem... I will update this thread once I get it back from the dealership on Monday.
