If I was buying today I'd buy another Premium trim Mach-E. Next year who knows? By the way I drove a Model Y and hated it. To each his own.

I traded our MY in for an i4 after getting a MME AWD in November. I far prefer the MME to the MY and haven't had to deal with the "phantom breaking" issue with either the i4 or the MME like we did with the MY.

...... :) I would love to get other owners' thoughts in real world experiences as I am making myself crazy comparing these options. I appreciate your thoughts!
Test drove relative's Tesla MY and found it rather lacking inside and out with a suspension that makes me and my wife nauseous.

Test drove: BMW i4, BMW iX, Ionia 5 and EV6 but found they didn't drive well & suspension bottoms out easily.

As a Ford EV owner for both a Lightning and Mach E, I would say that the Mach E generates more excitement & driving fun than the Lightning.

Drove a Lightning for 1 year - got too big for urban daily driving so I traded her in for the delayed order (14 months) Mach E which I just picked up last month and love it.

The Mach E RWD has the feel of a sport car - comparable to my years with BMW (25+ yrs).

Great RWD bias handling, 50:50 weight distribution, no turbo lag = instant torque, no more tranny hunting, suspension that is taut but still controlled w/ manners, and a nimble feel even though it weighs almost double of ICE BMWs...

Love my new MME!

I have been very satisfied with my Mach E GT. Charge at home. Work is 20 miles away and I only make long trips every couple of months. When I have been on the road, the lowest was 35% and it was about 20 mins to 80%. The look and interrior moved me to Ford. Waited from Feb to Jul for mine. Turning a year old nowm, 17k miles. I like that Ford is being gentle wiht the batteries. I think this will pay dividends over the years.

Phone as a key is sweet, never an issue. Very handy as I NEVER forget my phone.

I did opt to purchase a full size spare (Modern Spare), just old school.

Still get complements on the design and look everywhere I park.

Was the right decision for me.

Happy shopping regardless on where you land.

About 800 miles in, I can say that it's a fun car. Even with a standard range battery, in my urban/suburban area I don't fear running out of charge. It drives well, it is costing me about 40% less in fuel, and feels comfortable on 1.5-hr drives. I've found a bunch of nits, but overall positive so far.

In short, pluses:
  • It feels like a car (not a laptop with wheels), good ride
  • Charge reporting in Apple Maps is nice
  • Lots of people have commented they like the car (even Tesla owners)
Minuses:
  • Software is hit/miss, sometimes my windows don't go down/up, charging schedule has some hiccups
  • Tiny build defects/misalignments
  • BlueCruise works but needs good conditions---I'm always grabbing the wheel to navigate construction and potholes and sharper bends

The Phone as a Key (PaaK) system seems to work great for me. Some people have problems with it. Problems with PaaK are usually BlueTooth issues with the phone (I have not experienced these issues but several on the forum have). Once in a while an OTA update will freak things out temporarily because of bus communications interruptions caused by a module going offline while it’s updating. These usually work themselves out after a key cycle or two. I was originally not going to use PaaK, but once I set it up, I started leaving my car keys in the safe. ??
Interestingly, up until Saturday I had a 21 GT, and could not get PAAK to work no matter what I did. On Saturday I bought a new GTPE, and PAAK connected immediately and has worked flawlessly since. Same phone. Might have been the bluetooth module in the vehicle.

How are you liking the i4?

I do like the handling, ride, and range of the i4 as well as the quiet cabin. It is a little low to the ground for getting in an out compared to the MME though. For quick errands around town I prefer the MME mostly for this reason and the bigger backup camera for backing into parking spaces (the safer to leave them).

I worry more about it for resale value, wondering if such a slow charge will be obsolete in a few years. Thoughts? And/or how often does this slow charging impact your experience as a driver?
I don't think the slow charging will be obsolete. Because it is the only viable option for charging the car overnight or while you work in the office.
Please explain what exactly do you mean in the second question.

Given what I know today and all that, and if I could keep my CR-1, if I had the cash, I'd buy another Mustang.

I would probably get a 2022 Select SR for local and regional driving (down off the mountain to the Valley on the Sun and back in a day). Or we would get a Lightning for towing.

I think my partner would like to adventure into other BEVs. We both prefer CUVs, hatchbacks, trucks, and vans (in that order), and aren't into luxury vehicles or their prices. So it would be a Mustang, Lighting, or one of the several smaller hatchbacks/small CUVs. Or the ID.Buzz...

Congrats on the new MachE! Always great to see another E-Mustang in the Bay Area, especially in the soon-to-be rare Cyber Orange. One question - your username. I see you see the first ā€œMach N Cheeseā€ on the forum, but there is also @scoopman who has a second identify as MachNCheese (hopefully I’m not blowing your cover). I just thought you should meet each other virtually before you end up re-enacting the Spider-ManTwins.GIF meme on this forum.

yes yes I found out after making the username that @scoopman came up with it first on this forum. I could buy his plates to continue the tradition. ?

Don’t know if this makes a difference to you but the IRA rebate for a used EV means you have to fulfill all 3 conditions: the car must be 2 years old, meaning a 2021 model, selling under $25,000, and your family income must be under $125,000. We bought our ā€˜22 Mach-e in 2/23 so we don’t qualify for the rebate this FY. That’s a big dang but wasn’t a deal breaker for us.
Some corrections to above:

- vehicle must be 2 model years old (actual age is irrelevant)
- price must be $25,000 or lower (not under)
- must be bought from a car dealer, not a private sale
- dealer must report sale to IRS
- family income cannot exceed $150,000 (not $125,000)

There are other nuances. Actual rule is here - https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/used-clean-vehicle-credit
