Control Versions Sync?

How can one determine if they have the highest level of Sync available for their specific car?

I have a 2021 mache with sync 23031. This level of sync does not support Apple Maps. Can I force an update to 23034 or downgrade to 23028? (these are the sync versions that support Apple Maps).


The ford map app is pathetic when in regards to searching and routing options.

i'm not really understanding your question, the mach e supported carplay from day 1, there is not a version of sync (that i know of) that did not support it

if you are asking for a native apple maps app installed on sync without using a phone, no version of sync (that i know of) supports that

All version of SYNC on the Mach-E have supported Apple CarPlay. You might have to re-pair your phone if it isn't working.

I would have thought as well - however after an hour of trying, I couldn’t get to work…so I went to the Google machine and found this in website called 9to5 Mac and other sites. It claims to have gotten this off the Ford website.

“According to the Ford website, EV Routing is currently available for 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E units and 2021 units with the following SYNC software versions:

• 21281_PRODUCT.244
• 22028_PRODUCT.358
• 22034_PRODUCT.364

For Ford Mach-E vehicles with other software versions, Ford said that EV routing will be available later this year. Ford also said that EV routing will also be available for its other vehicles, specifically F-150 Lightning and E-Transit cars.

the quote you posted above does not relate to carplay

if carplay is not working there is either something you're doing wrong on the user side (something wrong in the car or phone settings), or something broken...

if you explain what you're doing folks here can try to help you

Update: you were right - thank you for ‘driving’ me to delve deeper?

Turns out that of the dozens of Apps on my phone, one App had restrictions on it: Yes -CarPlay!????

I turned off the restrictions and CarPlay launch on the Mach e.

Although it’s curious that my version of Sync (23031) isn’t listed as compatible. However there’s no reason to dwell on that.

EV routing is a feature of Apple maps that when paired with a compatible car, Apple maps receives the battery state of charge from the car and uses that to calculate any needed charging stops. The arrival state of change is also displayed while using Apple maps for navigation.

That was not a launch feature of the MME and came sometime in 2022 with a Sync update.

It is possible that your version of Sync4a is older than the minimum needed for this feature.
