Cost to Replace Charge Port Door Cover Plate?

So today I took my beautiful, one month old pony to the car wash. I remembered to adjust the wipers but hadn’t considered the charge port door.
Whoops.
So the door popped open and thank everything the charge port door itself didn’t pop off or seem to get damaged in any way. But the door cover plate, sadly, popped off and got mangled in the wash. Anyone have any idea how much it would cost to purchase a replacement?
(Also, just confirming, since it was open and probably got some water and maybe even soap on/around/in the charger plug, it’s not going to like, explode or fry the battery or anything when I charge it next, right?)

The part seems to not be very expensive but depending on the damage to the entire assembly it may be more complicated than this.

Also appears to be primed, so it would need to be painted.

That looks like it, yes, thank you!! The rest of the assembly seems to be mercifully undamaged. Any idea how much it would cost to get it painted? Also, I'm still concerned about charging it again after it was exposed to water and/or soap.

Water shouldn't be a problem, but for belts and suspenders you might want to dry it out.
You can leave them plugged in and charging in the rain, so probably just fine.

Would be a nice feature to be able to lock the charge port door.

Ok, thank you. That makes me feel a bit better. And definitely going to let it dry out thoroughly before charging it again. And yes, until they can make it so the charging port door can be locked closed, I will not be visiting a car wash again. It's frustrating that they thought of so much, but not that.

It looks like your door is still intact, it just the panel cover that came off. The water seals and everything are part of the door, the panel is just decorative so you should be fine.

I would start by complaining to Ford and hammer it's a manufacturing defect.

Painting costs are a wild card. talk to a couple body shops. It comes primed, the car paint and clear look to run just under $100 in materials for touchup spray cans. I would call a few body shops or see if you can find a local paint and body guy who can do it. If you actually have to buy a quart of the paint, and clear, and have some one spray it, it could get pricy.

Maybe try:
- a compressed air can to blow off the area.
- an air compressor to blow dry the area
- a hair dryer, with some heat, at a reasonable distance to avoid heat damage

Do any or all a few times.

* Not going say heat gun. Tooooo much chance of damage.
