Yesterday, I picked up my 2021 Mach E GTPE, after needing to have the HVJB replaced for the second time - the first time was about 2.5 years ago when the HVJB failures were first occurring.

The work was completed under warranty, but I had a nice chat with the friendly mechanic and he said it is billed to Ford as 14 hours labor, plus part cost for the HVJB LK9Z-10C666-C, bolts, and 2 gallons anti freeze.

The car is seldom driven and only has 9,600 miles on it. It isn't driven that aggressively (most of the time,) so a bit disapponting it's had 2 failures. It is getting ready for a 12,000 mile trip circumnavigating North America, so here's hoping the HVJB doesn't fail a third time.

Ford ended up covering all costs. Nobody said is was part of the battery warranty. The dealer just called me up, sounding excited, saying "Ford changed their mind and they are paying for everything!" I think the dealer was trying to charge me for something that was covered under the battery warranty. Thanks for your comments, everyone! p.s.- I asked them to change my brake fluid and they did, but the dealer did not know it is supposed to be changed every 3 years.

Your first replacement was probably an LK9Z-10C666-B, which is the part that was cut in at the end of May of 2022. The LK9Z-10C666-C was cut in late November of 2023. As of this time there have been far fewer reports of failure of the -C part. That is not to say that it hasn’t failed, but it does seem more robust since the 2024 and newer GTs have a much longer full power limit than the 2021-2023 GT-PEs. ??

Dealer CYA. The service department didn't know what they were doing on the warranty claim. Kind of makes me wonder how good their service quality will be.
