Yes that isn’t a windshield kinda claim due to special cut and infared blocking (tint lol). I like in this day it’s always someone else’s fault never the people I write monthly checks to. Could be worse we could have bought Fiskers. Now that’s a loss. Companies would make more money being honest and take care of their customers. Sorry a whole diatribe but that piece of glass represents whats wrong in the US economy now a days. Good luck I hope it works out for you you didnt pay ford to be a guinea pig, but I understand warranty is a warranty. God bless.
The glass represents what's wrong with US economy, in what way? That it is cracked?

Can’t tell from the picture but an impact from a rock, hail, etc could have been the root cause. Of course there have been some reported that also appeared to be flaws. No way to tell from the picture.
Mine also cracked in a different area; a glass company will tell you if it's caused by a hit (mine was) or stress. Anyway, it's about $1800 to replace. Ford does not cover it. Insurance either. I'm leaving it alone since it doesn't leak, and I may get another hit. If and when I sell it, the new buyer will get a discount, and they can fix it or not.

Insurance better darn well cover it. It's part of the car. If they're not covering it it's because they're shady. That'd be like the back window not covered. I have a chip in the front edge of mine that's going to be a new roof at some point. I expect it not to make it thought this summer as I live in AZ, but the car is outside only a couple days a week so my chances, while smaller are still chances that the thing splits. I'm surely not paying $1800 for my glass when I have insurance.

Maquis, please accept my apology. Re-reading my comments it seems like I am neither understanding nor sympathetic. First, how terrible that such an expensive part of your car cracked. That is frustrating and terrible. Second, yes, I should have seen that of course there are probably situations in which the heat can exacerbate errors or flaws that are bound to occur in manufacturing.
No problem - I took no offense by anything you said.

A totally useless feature for the driver and front passenger. You cannot even see it from the front seats. This is for the rear passengers.

Not true for all insurance. My glass roof got a 30-inch crack from a rock hit last month and Progressive paid 100% of the replacement cost.

IDK if this is true for all US states, but in my state if you have both Comprehensive and Glass coverage on your policy they'll replace the roof with $0 deductible.
