Mine cracked last summer. Dealer was great and got it replaced under warranty. About two weeks later is when the recall was issued. I had hoped that the recall wouldn’t be necessary since it was just replaced, but was told it was still required.

So far, so good. I hope yours turns out fine as well.
That's good to hear! ?

FWIW, I don’t have a separate glass policy. Wonder will my comprehensive cover the pano roof like it does my windshield? ?

Out of curiosity, how much would something like having to replace the pano roof cost out of pocket, materials and labor and all?

Yes.

Glass is not a separate policy.

On my Michigan policy (your state may be different), I have a line that says:

FULL SAFETY GLASS COVERAGE with premiums for each car listed. The cost for most vehicles is very low. For the Mach-E, as I noted, it's $72 a year. My F-150 is $19 a year.

You can also get it with a specific deductible, instead of zero. Most of the time, that cost differential is not worth it, i.e. you want to "pay" a bit more for zero.

There are a group of states that require zero deductible glass coverage - Arizona, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, and South Carolina. In those states, the cost is built into the policy.

If the dealer determines it to be a stress crack, it should be covered under warranty. If they say it's impact damage, you'll likely have to go through your insurance.

One thing to note is that stress cracks on the windshield are only covered for 12 months or 12k miles. Not sure if that's the case with the glass roof.
Don’t we have a 36 month bumper to bumper warranty? Probably wacked with an ice scraper.

I think if you know the real answer, you may sell your Mach E right now if equipped with one :D
I hated @Ford Motor Company because they made me order the panoramic roof with co-pilot!
I hate those panoramic roofs as they make the car boil in San Diego summer, and they can crack easily but I had no option.

I've replaced mine twice. First time was covered under warranty. Second time was covered by insurance. The roof costs $1,400. The labor here in CT cost $923.

You are in the minority here as all the Texas, Arizona, Florida folks say it’s just fine on the summer. The IR coating works very well.

I've had this panoramic glass roof since March last year. It's great. It doesn't radiate much heat to the cabin at all, compared to a painted roof.

Also, San Diego is where Phoenicians go to escape summer heat. ???

I just called GEICO and asked the same question. In California glass damage is covered under "comprehensive", so I had to lower the deductible from $1,000 to $500 for $6. I could have lowered it to a $0 deductible for $65 but the gambling ratio just isn't there LOL

I do have a panoramic roof in my Elantra GT, full panorama, we are only in April and I already close the lid underneath so I don't get any sun, it's already hot, not sure about those other states but when the sun is out here, it's out!

I have a lot of experience here. I replaced my glass roof due to a really aggressive garage door at my home. The glass was removed and the seating area sanded/primed so the new glass would adhere better with the binding material. With the recall, the original binding material is simply enhanced from inside the car. The roof is not removed.

Interestingly, the windshield has to be removed to do the roof fix, since the headliner has to come out - through the windshield opening. The windshield frame is prepared like the roof for a better bind.

The dealer was not experienced with this service, and spoke to Ford engineers on a couple of occasions to be sure they were doing the right thing. All in all, the procedure went well.

OPs glass looks like a stress crack, so should be warrantable.

As for insurance, I paid $500 which is my comprehensive deductible. The roof glass alone retails for ~$1,400. Labor was pretty reasonable. My insurance policy covers glass and depending on the circumstances will be covered 100% (collision) or with the deductible. I opted for the full coverage and it costs about $60 per year for two cars. I think it’s a good buy;. I’m on my third windshield on my ‘17 Outback.

But the Elantra is not the Mach-E. In comparison, I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
