To answer my own question, dealership said

" The vehicle will have to remain with us because it is currently not safe to drive as it may lose all power randomly or even cause more damage "
In the vast majority of cases, this is not true. In my case, I drove about 17 miles and got an SSN while doing nothing other than listening to talk radio while in line to be checked in for service. Still not a dangerous situation. The dealer I took mine to even told me that I could drive the car until they had an appointment available. ?‍♂?

I meant specifically about getting your car back from the dealership while the part comes in. Apparently they won't do it.

I did this for about 200+ miles and I then got an intermittent Stop Safely Now...

So, "it depends" how close to welding your contactor relays are.

See my dash pic now. I understand that's how the combined SVS (orange wrench) and SSN (red car) warning icons look.

Well well well... a surprising update.

After a day of diagnostics, the EV Tech at the dealership determined that what had failed on my March 2022 Premium AWD (ER) is not the HV Battery contactors, but the front motor driver unit (per VOCO, some major sub-component of the motor assembly).

This is covered by the power train warranty, which for our vehicles (for my vehicle anyway) runs for five years or 60 thousand miles.

I guess I'm one lucky cat, as my car now has about 52.5 thousand miles ha haa.

Two days to get the part in, another 2 - 3 days for the repair. Ford Corporate is covering the loaner car.

And BTW, my HV Battery recall will continue to await a recall fix (or a failure of the contactors and a subsequent recall fix, if that comes first)

So, anyone ever heard of a Mach E AWD front motor (or rear motor) "driver unit failure"? EDIT: I researched this a bit and IMHO the well-meaning dealer phone guy had meant to say "motor drive unit" although he did keep saying "motor driver unit". Therefore, my question to the forum members stands, although adjusted to read "motor drive unit failure", either front or rear.

And BTW - the IPC failure signals and the loss of power had sure seemed to match the HV Battery contactor SVS signs... I guess ya never know until ya look at the data.

They only get so creative with the PowerUp release notes. I don't think they can spare the time to actually make more than 3 error messages for this without having to outsource it, though maybe Gen2 will get the 4 SVS errors feature.

Mine is on day 3 in the shop, somewhat slowed by mechanic with a twisted knee... Supposedly he was putting the diaper on a 4, and then has to do the software plus the CSPs. Not ready until tomorrow. But it gained some mileage, so he drove it, that's a good sign.
