I am confused. I received a letter from ford dated 30 October that says:

I’ve been stuck on 6.1.0 going on a month (2021 Job 1). Does this mean that Ford has released the update, my car didn’t get it, and I should be contacting the dealer? Or is it just caught behind the “6.X OTAs have been paused for Job 1s” logjam?
6.6.0 is the OTA update for 23B50. You can wait for that or get it done at the dealer now.

I thought all updates beyond 6.1.0 were paused for Model year 2021 Job 1s?

Correct, so it will be at least a few weeks before you get 6.6.0.
Let’s start a Ford is giving us a Christmas present rumor with 6.6 as the gift, because there’s not enough forum outrage over missed deadlines (real or imaginary) these days. ;)

Also just got the recall notice for 23B50 - already had an appointment at the dealership tomorrow to get my next service + winter tires so this was good timing.

Anybody with FDRS want to check to see if the BCCM was actually updated for me once I'm done?

What about vehicles that didn't get 6.6.0 yet already having this fix like you mentioned earlier? I'm so confused. Is there a way to tell if we got this fix in a previous update?

I think this CSP got delayed, but they are going to use the powertrain version from 6.6.0 as the fix now since that version just came out in FDRS Nov 1st. So if you did not get 6.6.0 yet, wait for that or go to your dealer. Previous updates do not qualify to satisfy 23B50 apparently since I also got the letter.

Yeah, that snail letter (that I just got today) was really clear. NOT!!! "Ford Motor Company has released an OTA..." but then they fail to mention which OTA it might be. Apparently some insiders like @Mach-Lee (no offense!) seem to know that it is OTA 6.6.0. Of course, others (in other threads) have been saying that the 6.x series is all about prep for BC 1.3, although none of the highly informative and non-repetitive release notes for the 6.x series have mentioned BC or 1.3, IIRC... The non-informative "information" that we get from Ford doesn't help things at all. Just my 2cents.

Yes, the letter should have specified which OTA has the fix, but they probably didn’t know what the OTA would be called when they wrote the letter. Hopefully they put 23B50 in the release notes and publish a tech bulletin specifying the exact OTA name so dealers know what to look for. Or they might change 6.6.0 to a priority update for this issue.

So, this is an inhibited-type update,
letter states approx. 120 minutes for updates,
what are the chances that the 12volt battery is up for this task?!
so, should a battery maintainer be attached for as long as it takes to get this update…….?
how many Mach-es have been sold?
sure would make sense to have a system in place, that would allow owners to know when they can expect an OTA update to drop?! Bill P

The OTA only takes about 15 minutes to install, 12V will be fine. 2 hours at the dealer.

I also received the letter and noticed some wording that I have not seen mentioned yet:

"The vehicle owner is responsible for making arrangements to have the work completed. Ford Motor Company can deny coverage for any vehicle damage that may result from the failure to have this service action performed on a timely basis. Therefore please have this service action performed as soon as possible"

They are clearly serious about making us get this done. Of course not telling us which OTA update applies the service action makes it very difficult for the average user to know if they are in compliance with the "timely basis" mentioned above. It would seem that a dealer visit is the only safe way to keep your charge port covered under the warranty.

Also if it is proved that the update indeed slows down charging, the threat of denying warranty coverage is a way to force us to accept that.

I am not happy.
