The front passenger side window on my wife's 2022 MME GTPE got damaged and needed to be replaced. Safellite came to our home and installed a new window. Overall my wife and I are happy with the repair.

My only question - did the original front passenger window have any tint to it? At first glance, I thought the new window seems slightly lighter in tint level compared to the old one. I am pretty sure any appearance of a difference in tint level has to do with the sunlight hitting at different angles. I don't think there is any tint at all from the factory on the front side windows, but just wanted to make sure.

Your comments and feedback are appreciated.
Thank you,
Joe

Read the label on the driver's window. Now, go read the label on the passenger window.

Thanks for the suggestion. Here is the label from the original window still on the driver's side

and here is the label on the new after-market replacement window that Safellite installed:

Can anyone help me decipher the info in the labels? I am trying to determine if the replacement glass has the same color and clarity as the original glass. Thank you.

Googling tells me that AS2 glass is the same as what you have, tinted 70% min.

When I got my windshield replaced by Safelite a few weeks back, I called a week prior to say "you have OEM glass, right"? Answer - no, it's aftermarket. I said "I want OEM", and they said no problem. Label matched exactly.

The OEM window is showing "TRANSP 70% MIN", which means it has a 30% tint on it.

Thank you for the very helpful reply. My wife and I got quotes for both OEM and after market glass replacement. The OEM glass was double the cost. Even though we did not file an insurance claim, I still checked with my insurance agent as to whether we should choose OEM or after-market. She said that OEM and after-market glass, especially for side windows, are often made by the same companies, just stamped differently. She recommended we choose the after-market glass and save ourselves some cash.

That's why we have zero deductible glass on both vehicles.

Since you paid for it by yourself, you could have put in the 2021 Mach-e acoustic laminated glass.

I think op did get laminated glass, just not the original OEM one from Safelite. Just curious though, what's the price difference between the two?

Our local Ford dealership wanted something like $1,600 total. A local glass repair place quoted OEM glass for around $680 total. Safelite was $389 total for an aftermarket, non OEM glass, and the glass they used was acoustic and laminated.

Did the same with my Cadillac CT5. I was happy with their work. My insurance covered the OEM
