I had regretted ordering DMG while I waited the seven months for delivery -- the space white looks pretty cool in pics -- but that changed pretty quickly once I saw it in person, and I have now convinced myself it was far/away the right call.

I did not warn my dealer off of installing the front license plate in CA. For anyone else in my boat, bumperplugs.com added DMG just today to their supported colors.

There are some other front plate options that don't require drilling into the bumper. Including a vinyl sticker in CA that some people are going with.

Vehicle Code 5200 VC – Display of License Plates
CVC 5200 states:

“(a) When two license plates are issued by the department for use upon a vehicle, they shall be attached to the vehicle for which they were issued, one in the front and the other in the rear.

(b) When only one license plate is issued for use upon a vehicle, it shall be attached to the rear thereof, unless the license plate is issued for use upon a truck tractor, in which case the license plate shall be displayed in accordance with Section 4850.5.”

What Is the Penalty of No Front License Plate?
A License Plate Display Failure ticket will cost around $196.

No name yet, but it's home!! The dealership tried to slide in an extra 2K out of nowhere and then lowball me heavy on my car trade. Called him out on both with having KBB info for trade and window sticker of the car. He backed off real quick after that. In fact, he became apologetic after trying to press the issue at first.

Love the car! Stupid fast. So worth it.

So since you got 4 grumpy people who might call the local police on you by telling them you don't have a plate on the front ? - let me give you my perspective because yes, technically it's a law.

1 - There's literally 1 out of every 100 Tesla's in CA with front plates. None of them have them
2 - Most people with Porches, Ferrari's, Lambos etc never have front plates
3 - I have two friends, one is CHP the other is LAS Deputy and both have said they would never pull anyone over for not having one. They said if they suspected something they might use it as premise, but on it's own never. They say the same about window tint on front windows which is also illegal in CA.
4 - I have never had one on my MME and never pulled over.
5 - Get a Reviver Digital plate and use the letter provided to say "I'm in a pilot program using an approved digital plate under CA VC 4853(b)," which doesn't specifically excuse it, but that's where you just play dumb and take advantage of the gray line. The letter says that you must keep the original plates in the vehicle, so I keep mine in the back storage.

And since we are all following the law to a perfect "T":
In Long Beach, it is illegal to curse on a mini-golf course.
In Los Angeles, you cannot hunt moths under street lamps.
It is prohibited to put anything other than cars in garages in Long Beach
San Diego homeowners who have Christmas lights on their houses past February 2 may be fined up to $250
It is illegal for women to drive vehicles while wearing a housecoat in all of California

Definitely noticed #1. I'm in SoCal and payed more attention only after I got my Mach-E. I guess it's what your comfortable with. I unfortunately had requested the front plate be put on and regret it now

Yes. This color is exclusive to the GT trims.

Dark Matter Gray is not exclusive to GT. My order for Cal Rt 1 is Dark Matter Gray..
