I just picked up my MME yesterday from the dealer for an OTA issue. My advisor said they just received an email from Ford saying not to preform any recalls until further notice. It seems there is a major software issue that has to be fixed on a past OTA that effects all updates going forward
Until this is resolved, he can’t do anything

It is unfortunate that some dealerships opted out of the EV program. The only downside for them is when there are no more ICE vehicles to be sold they will be out of business. Ford will make them pay to come back.
Doubtful. EV program paid for by ICE profits.
These opted out dealerships are probably doing a wait and see approach. I am not surprised if ZEV mandates get adjusted soon.

Dealers had to make a significant investment to remain a Model e dealer. Ford will not be able to just let them back into the fold without them making the same investments they required of all the other Model e dealers.

I think this results in an inconsistent sales and service model for Ford (and GM). As a consumer you want to be able to simply go to any Ford/GM dealership and expect same service offerings and treatment standards.
Imagine your MME lights up like a Christmas tree while road tripping and only to be turned away by a Ford dealership. That's not cool.

You will not get that with Costco or IKEA... or any major retailer.

Yeah but I'm sure glad my MachE didn't come with an allen wrench and assembly instructions.

At least they aren't gonna be found on road dead.

I was recently told that the parts were now available to fix a recall item. I called the dealer the same day and was told that they may not perform any service on Mach-es. They never explained why. Any one else have this experience?
Hello! Send us a private message with your VIN and current mileage. Allow me to see what I can do to assist. Thanks!

Im assuming that’s what’s going on with my vehicle. Got the hvbjb failure on March 12, took it to the dealer, was told it would be fixed the next week. Got a rental because no loaners available. It wasn’t fixed the next week. Dealership started covering the rental after 10 days. Dealership then found a loaner after another 10 days. Car is still in the shop.

Called the ford bev people, they told me they won’t cover a rental because of their policy not to cover non ford vehicles and the only rental I could find after calling every place on the map was a Chevy bolt. Asked to speak to a supervisor repeatedly, never got a call back. I posted about it on here and @Ford Motor Company told me to “keep working with the people I was working with” and then never answered when I asked how I was supposed to work with people who won’t even return calls.

Car is still in the shop. Someone from ford called me a week ago to tell me that the parts were ready for the recall but had no idea I had been fighting with ford to get it fixed for a month and a half. Since then, no real updates.

I’m left with the sense that my local dealership is doing what they can but ford corporate has no plan to efficiently deal with paying customers’ failing cars.

I am unfortunately outside the lemon law protection so I asked if ford would buy it back last time I talked to them. I’m not hopeful. My assumption is that they will either refuse or offer so little that it’s not worth it. At this point I’m assuming that I will just have to wait this out until I get it back and then turn it in when my balloon payment is due for ford options and the car is inevitably underwater.

I cannot imagine how ford would possibly retain me as a customer now.

Thanks. I assume there is no guidance as to when the problem will be resolved.
Soon. Some fixes are starting to show now in FDRS.
Can they do that? I mean it's a freakin' Ford dealership selling... Fords.
Let’s presume, just for arguments sake, that the refusal wasn’t related to the powertrain issue referenced above and elsewhere on the forum. There would be two general reasons they would say that.

1. Perhaps they’re no longer an EV dealer or EV service center. Maybe they don’t have a battery lift and don’t want to buy one. Whatever the reason, they should inform their EV customers that they can no longer sell or service EVs and maybe make a suggestion as to where they could get the car serviced.

2. They’re jerks and don’t want to it even though they could, or could arrange for it to be done by a third party (the early 2021 glass recalls for example). In this event, you need to take the car elsewhere. If you can’t take the car elsewhere, because you live on an island or live somewhere where the next nearest dealer is hundreds of miles away, you’re sort of screwed. You can complain to Ford. You can open a case with BEV team. You can file a complaint with the NHTSA. You can hire a product liability attorney. But if the dealer doesn’t want to do the recall, it’s not going to get done and Ford will not do diddely to get your car worked on. Eventually the NHTSA might do something but that would be along the lines of punishing the dealer not in getting your car recalls accomplished. And would you really want the errant dealer working on your car at that point?

Ask me how I know.
