Dealer inventory

Just curious - searching the internet, I’m seeing a number of Mach-E vehicles available at nearby dealers and on Autotrader. Are these the FCTP vehicles that have been discussed on this forum and are these available for purchase now or only after 4 months at the dealer?

There are going to be some that are just reservations that weren't actually bought. In theory you can get all your money back so there's going to be people that changed their mind

Some are cars that buyers backed out on. Take the vin to the tracker site and see if a human name is attached to it...that is a good indication it either belongs to someone and it just isn't at the dealership yet, or the buyer backed out and the dealer is really selling it. I know there is a first edition by me where the guy backed out....wrong color or I might have gone for it.

Yes: Sure people may have backed out but FCTP vehicles do show up in the dealers inventory.

A lot of dealers have ALL of their orders show up as inventory on their website, which is then gathered by sites like Autotrader. That likely includes FCTP vehicles as well as customer orders that are not available to purchase.

I'm in the process of buying a First Edition Grabber Blue that popped up on ebay that someone linked on here. It was an order that someone backed out on. Dealer was trying to sell it for $5k over MSRP.

I was going to go tomorrow and pick it up, but found out I have Covid so thats pushed back at least another week.

Ugh, sorry to hear that. I hope you're symptom-free (and stay that way). Were you able to get the dealer to back down on the markup? The ebay listing said that they would deliver. Not sure if there are limits on that since it looks like you're at least a few hours away from them.

Curious as to the dealer inventory pipeline if anyone has any thoughts.
My current lease doesn't end until May - if I order a bespoke Mach-E now, it likely won't arrive for months after - do we think dealers are going to be getting a regular supply of vehicles to sell off the forecourt? Or really it's just the current wave of launch vehicles plus what is ordered direct?

Unfortunately I do have symptoms. SO far its been mild though. No cough, no fever. Just feels like a mild cold.

When I saw that listing on ebay I offered $1000 over sticker. I thought that was fair to pay a little more since its a FE grabber blue, and you can't order those now. I actually didn't expect them to accept it, but they did. That dealership is a 4 hour drive from my house. They offered up to $1000 allowance to cover delivery. But I'm also trading in my current vehicle so I would have had to pay to ship my car to them, so just easier to drive up there.

I thought I was going to have to back out of it at first because after it was done and started talking to the finance guy, they were saying ford was offering 14% interest. And they found another bank that would give me 7.9%. I told them they better look again because that would be an absolute deal breaker. Then they "found" the ford credit offers of 1.9% for 60 months or 0.9% for 48.
