I was also told my Mach E had been used as a test car and that’s why it had 34 miles on it when I received it…..

It’s fine if that is true - the salesman said that Ford had put 27 miles on it for a track test? I just would like to know if I’m getting yanked around on some details and if I can get proof it was used for that and not the dealer driving it. I had preset my car up on the Ford pass app and was suppose to be able to just proceed with my settings when I got the car - the settings had been accepted without my phone so now I can’t reset them and the dealer won’t give me the access code until the title has been sent to them. I also was told I cannot have the second key or owners manual….until they’ve got the title. So I can’t have the access code, 2nd key (which they may have used) or the hard copy owners manual ( yes - I have the online version and I have read it - but not memorized it).

I’m probably over reacting - but I’m a girl and sometimes feel like I’m not taken seriously or viewed differently than my husband is when he buys a car.
I do not think you are overreacting! Not having your deposit applied and not getting the codes definitely sound wrong. The mileage and the fob I am not sure about. I also definitely get treated differently than my husband at car dealerships and I hate it.

Could I ask a separate question? How did you preset your car up in the Fordpass app?

Your wife sounds amazing, so big props and old school fist bump to her!

I’m a microbiologist with a masters in forensics - I hate to be played and love to investigate things. There was no card or placard that said it had been used as a test vehicle, but at this point, like one of the previous guys said, it’s only 34 miles. I do know it was activated at a certain time when it arrived at the dealership and I’m now dealing with having to reset everything because my phone wasn’t near it at that time. I can’t send my settings or get the FordPass to work because I keep getting a message that the “user” needs to approve it. That was me when I set it up - no clue who it is right now & my dealership has instructed me to call Ford for help.

I have been told I’ll get the $1000 back but it will take time. Dealership is refunding their $500 - I have to contact Ford to see how to get the $500 back that was suppose to be applied to the loan/vehicle.

Thanks for the reply! The happy side is I LOVE the car!!!! It’s outstanding and I was really worried I wouldn’t like it -first EV. Hasn’t disappointed me at any level yet - except I do miss the engine roar. We have a supercharged 2016 Mustang as well, so I’ll hop in that if I want to go slower off the line…but hear it when I do.

My wife used to get treated differently by car dealers, one wasn’t going to sell her a car until she had her husband come into the dealership. As a seasoned business executive, it didn’t take her long to set them straight. That was 20 years ago, one would hope those days are over!
The last Ford I purchased with “extra” miles on it (about 90 iirc), there was a card on the dashboard from the assembly plant explaining that my truck had undergone “extra QA testing” resulting in the miles. It was even hand signed. I don’t know if they still do that???
Thank you Hybrid2bev. I saved for this car for almost 2 years before I reserved and ordered it..I wanted it the second they announced it (was going to get a Tesla but waited - we also have 2016 750hp supercharged GT that is sentimental) then I waited like most of us in the thread. I just want others to be aware of everything that comes up when the car arrives and the paperwork is presented. The excitement is overwhelming. This forum has been a huge wealth of knowledge that is priceless.

I don’t care if I get 2 key fobs - I just want to know if I shoulda and if Ford listened to this forum when only one was given.

I don’t care if the dealer or Ford puts 34 miles on the car - I just want them to be honest.

I know the owners manual is online - ive read it -I keep being told I will get my 2nd fob and the factory code will be in the owners manual - both of which I’ll get when I pick up the title….after the 5 day point of when I can return the car.

And financing…we have great credit and still we’re told 4.9% (that’s my issue to resolve, not the dealers….I had requested meetings to go over all of Ford’s financing options and they put me off till the car arrived - I should have had a back up loan) was our best finance option and the $1k I thought was going to apply to the cost of the car was not counted.

Hi Kistra-

Definitely frustrating with the female aspect at some dealerships!!!! I do have to say that I chose this dealership and specifically the guy that has been working with me, Dravyn, because he took me seriously when I went in by myself and said I wanted to reserve and order a Mach E. I went to several dealerships and Dravyn was the only rep that didn’t treat me like I was a “girl.” The issues I’m having now are kind of outside his control.

As for your preset question - once my Mach E had been built - but before it has shipped…I’m not sure exactly when - the FordPass App showed I could preset my vehicle up. You just follow the screen prompts and when you get the car at the dealership you’re suppose to have the phone used to set everything up with the vehicle and hit “accept” (or whatever prompt displayed) at that time. I’m now stuck in a loop where I can’t “activate” mine. I get a message that says the primary user had to approve me.

I’m going to try and call the FordPass people and get their help.

the factory code is actually on a small card about the size of a business card that should be in the glove compartment with the manual, not in the manual. small correction but want to make sure you're looking for the right thing when you take delivery.

I don't remember for sure, but I seem to recall that the activate is the in-car step, it's just not presented like that in the app. but I could be remembering wrong.

Thank you and you are correct - the dealership finally gave me the card you’re talking about yesterday after I sent my husband up to find out why I wasn’t given it when I signed the paperwork. I also did get a second fob - which must be new. I’ve now read the posts where earlier owners didn’t receive 2 fobs. Looks like Ford “listens” to the forum. I know I get most of my info from the guys on here!

@MicrobialAng I don’t have a point of reference for your (or anyone else’s) poor treatment by some ignoramus as a female. Every time I hear about something like that it just ticks me off though.

Have you tried the Master Reset option on the Sync screen? Not the reboot using the steering wheel controls.
@Kistra Regarding sending settings before you have the car, you should be able to do it on ford.com also.

Ah, I'm taking over a cancelled order so I guess I cannot set it up before Saturday. Thank you for the information!

I worked with the FordApp reps today and apparently my Mach E will need an entire reboot. They tried to perform a master reset twice with me over the phone but the Mach E is stuck and won’t move past “null” which registers as 08/11/2021…the day it was built.

I have to take it to the dealership to have it rebooted entirely. So nervous about doing that and I’d love to know if anyone else on the forum is having issues - it sat waiting for chips before I received her.

I’ll try that as well….thanks.

You weren’t wrong - thank you for replying. It appears my Mach E is stuck in a loop and has to be entirely rebooted.

I’d be curious to see if others whose cars were built…but then sat and waited for chips are experiencing the same issue.

Lucky lady getting a cancelled order!

Waited a long time for mine, like a lot of fellow forum people…..I would have ordered one sooner but I had to save up for her…..and I absolutely love it now that I have it.

I will always be a Mustang owner - we have a 750hp 2016 GT. This one beats it off the line.

My husband teases me and says it’s a fart…..silent but deadly.

I reminded him that as a forensic microbiologist, farts are the least of the silent and deadly killers?

We very nearly purchased a VW ID.4 a week ago when we took it for a test drive because the experience was far, far different than we've had with nearly every other car purchase we've ever made.

No pressure.
Honesty from the salesperson about the things she knew and didn't know.
Openness to discussing terms and prices.
Knowledge about the incentives offered by VW.
Zero disdain toward my wife.
She discussed technology, terms, and costs with both of us instead of just with me.
We knew more about the car than she did, but that's always true.
The difference was that we didn't have to deal with an ego trip, defensiveness, or straight-out lies from the salesperson.

This was an incredibly different experience from what we usually have when we're shopping for a vehicle.

We didn't buy the vehicle because we're still hoping to compare the Mustang with the ID.4, but if we do decide to cancel our Mustang order, we'll buy from the ID.4 from this dealer.
