Hello,

My reserved car came in and they called me close to a month ago. The dealership booked an appointment with me to go in, test drive and sign papers if I wanted to move forward with it.

They left me voice messages, that I couldn't check due to work, so I showed up at the dealership. Little did I know that they tried to call me to tell me not to come in. Since I was already at the dealership, I requested if I could test drive any RWD. The sales rep got my reserved car (it still had 168miles of driving rage) pulled out from the lot, but when we got into the car, the main screen was black. Hence I couldn't test drive it. He said that "it was turned off to save energy". Later, he parked the car and proceeded to find another RWD on the lot, but he couldn't find one and apologized. I went home, jk I went to test drive Tesla, to make my trip out worth it.

Next week, he emailed me that the charging port was defective, they will send a part and fix it. At the end of the week, he emailed saying that they will have to bring someone in to fix it. I get it is a new car, therefore they need someone to come fix it, or at least train their team.

I have asked since the car is actually defective, (kinda refurbished) do I get compensated for that? or extended warranty? He just said no, but the car does have warranty.

So my question here is, have you come across some defects on your car that delayed your delivery, get compensated in some way? I should probably receive an extended warranty, or at least charging credit. Many got their order delayed, its been close to a month now.

Thank you!

I would like to think that since you haven't actually taken delivery that your warranty doesn't start until the day that you do take delivery. As far as the length of the delay, I would first try to see if Ford Corporate couldn't compensate you in some way. The dealer can't bind Corporate to anything that he offers to you, but if you can get someone from Ford corporate to agree to something it would be a nice thing.

Warranties begin with the day you take delivery, not before. The MME warranty is also irrelevant in this case as you don't own this car yet.

As for the defective charge port, that's also irrelevant. The charge port will be fixed/replaced and working as it should before you take delivery and assume ownership of the vehicle. You can't get compensation for a defective car that isn't defective when you own it. If the fact that there is a problem with a brand new generation of vehicles concerns you that much, you might want to consider waiting a few years before making the purchase. If you're just trying to get a few bucks off the cost using the defective charge port as a reason -- good luck.
