Since moving to British Columbia, I’ve been having trouble with the charging port door in the cold. I don’t know if it’s atmospheric moisture condensing and freezing on the plunger and hinge or something else. Initially, I had luck thawing it with a hairdryer, but that isn’t working now.
I pushed on the door in the usual spot, the door moved inward like it usually does when actuating the latch, but it won’t pop back outward. I’ve tried pushing to get it to finish actuating. I’ve tried gently prying. I’ve run a pick around the rubber seal to make sure it isn’t sticking. Nothing is working. The door is stuck pressed in. If anyone has any suggestions before I give up and schedule an appointment at the dealership (and end up going several weeks without the car), I’d appreciate them. Ugh. Between the constant software bugs and Ford’s inability to properly design something as simple as a charge port door, I think this will be the first and last Ford that I buy.
