Did you test drive a base and then GT?

I drove California Route 1 for couple months , until my wife got GT.... right now, I'm waitng for my GT. I like black out interior and electric passenger seat. My wife can drive my CR1 without complains , but I feel the difference in power. GT is much more fun to drive, but mile/kwh is worse than CR1.

I reserved a GT before there were cars available to test drive (or cars were anywhere other than in Ford Corporate’s hands, for that matter). I test drove a Premium before the order banks opened up for the GT. I decided that I wanted Magneride, so when orders opened up, I ordered a GT-PE. Never got to drive any other MME, GT or otherwise until I took delivery. ?‍♂?

In answer to is the power boost worth it, in my case it is. It’s still not my torquiest car, but the AWD really puts it to use. ??

We have a First Edition but put in an order for a GT PE after driving the GT and GT PE back to back. The power is great, but the suspension is really good on the GT PE.

I'd say the regular Mach-Es have a bit of a soft, bouncy ride. The GT ride is firm but not harsh like a lot of sports cars. The GT PE ride is just so smooth.

The power of the First Edition (aka Premium with AWD & ER) is like, "Wow!" The power of the GT & GT PE is like, "Oh sh**!!!"

Here's the video we made about the GT PE. And we ordered just a couple of days later.

Bought a FE February of last year, 14 months ago. Traded it for a GT in September.

I can tell a huge difference in the speed. The looks are also much better in my opinion. I got my GT for MSRP, it was worth it to me. I didn't lose much on my FE either. And received two $7500 tax credits last year too.

Thanks! I def. want power and a decent ride. Smoother is nice, but the cost (PE) is subjective to most.

Thanks...great info. On a 1-10 scale, how was the ride (suspension) going from GT to GT-PE?

I’ve only driven the GTPE, even during the test drive process. I knew i wanted the suspension from the GTPE but I also certainly enjoyed the reviews on the monster torque it has. I also like some of the exterior styling cues, the interior and factory GTPE wheels. To me it was worth it.

I’m sure those that bought other trims levels feel the same—to them it was worth. Or in other words the GT/GTPE trims were not worth the cost vs features. We all have our own criteria. Others not valuing the model I want doesn’t diminish it for me at all.

Itpretty clear what you’re doing here.

You obviously care a lot about ride quality.

But you also obviously don’t want to spend $$ on the PE.

So you want us to convince you that the magneride isn’t worth it.

But your bubble is going to be burst. If you care about ride quality, you need to get the magneride. The difference is significant.

It seems your mind is already made up, but you’re looking for confirmation bias…….. just enough people to agree with the decision you already made before you asked the question.

You’ll have better luck googling “magneride sucks” and only reading websites that don’t like it. You likely won’t find anyone here who didn’t prefer the ride of magneride on the Mach E.

I dunno, maybe I’m way off and you’re still making up your mind. But it seems like you definitely don’t want to have to buy the PE.

Thanks. I have 2 coupes now with magneride, Just never in an SUV. Aside from the negative word salad, you gave me the only thing I was looking for. "The difference is significant".

Example I was looking for GT vs. PE...is the step up like Mustang GT to M1 or Mustang GT to GT350 type handling.

PS. I ordered the GT... I am looking to possibly add PE if its allowed.

So why wait this long to share that info?

Your best bet is to find a dealer with a GTPE and test drive it.

No one here will be able to convince you if it’s worth it or not.

You just told me it is significant. Can't find a PE do test in my area. I'm pretty good at convincing, ask my daughter. Sorry, to bother you.

Had a Select AWD with comfort and tech package for almost a year. Loved that car but new deep down inside that I really wanted the GT. I kept doing external mods to the Select because I wasn’t happy with the front fascia looks of the Select.

picked up a GTPE last weekend and couldn’t be happier. This is the car that I wanted all along. Love the front design. The ride quality is much better with the MR and it’s significantly quicker and puts a smile on my face every time I launch it.

Best looking wheels of the trims and the calipers are already painted. I spent $3000 on the Select to upgrade the Wheels and get the calipers painted alone.

Ordered a GT on September/2020 and got delivery on December/2021.
Did not get a chance to drive a PE, and my dealer doesn’t know when they will have one that can be test driven to compare the differences.
All I can report is my experience on the GT, especially after just completing a 1600 miles round trip from Virginia to Florida: the ride, while firm was compliant but never harsh. The smooth, high velocity acceleration when needed was a blast. The seats were supportive and comfortable. I had taken that trip a long time ago several times, and my butt and back were sore at the end. Not on these seats. I was fresh as a lettuce (albeit a bit tired) on the GT.
The car’s a looker and got many compliments and approving stares along the way.
All in all I’m more than satisfied with the car. Would I be happier in a Bugatti? Maybe, maybe not. Whichever trim you choose based on your needs and finances I’m sure you’ll be happy with. Ford knocked this one out of the ballpark!

I traded in a Subaru WRX when I got my Mach-E. It had a really firm suspension that I hated for driving around town but it was great driving in the canyons. The GT was not nearly that firm. I think it would be find as a daily driver. The GT PE just seemed to be on another level. Pretty smooth over bumps but great cornering. And nothing really unsettled the car.

Another good comparison, speed bumps:
In my old WRX, ite would feel like I hit a curb.
In the regular Mach-E, the front is fine over the bump but the rear bounces over it and it takes a second to calm down.
In the GT, it feel like a speed bump. The rear handles it better, but it still has a little bounce.
In the GT PE, it feels like a speed bump but the front and read settle down instantly.

I'd rate my WRX suspension a 3, the regular Mach-E a 7, the GT an 8, and GT PE a 10.

It's all really up to you. Some people love the suspension of a Model Y, but I think it is horrible. And I loved the suspension on my WRX for the first few months when I was having fun with it every weekend.

I’m not sure where DMV is, but try the Mach E Facebook group. There may be someone with a GTPE near you that’ll let you test drive or at least ride in it.
