A road in my area was reconfigured with a new roundabout over six months ago. It is not reflected in Ford Maps. Six months seems like a long time for a subscription based product.
Here Technologies is the map vendor. Garnin provides the underlying software. Here uses a national data base for making map changes, if local authorities update the database it gets updated in the map. If they don’t, users can report a change and then it may or may not get updated by Here. If Here does make a change based solely on user reports, it will get changed back on the next update cycle if the data base isn’t changed.

The underlying map data comes from HERE Maps, if there are inaccuracies in HERE's data, the faster they fix it, the faster the Connected Navigation updates will include it. Does HERE's web map have the same mistake? https://wego.here.com/
So, I checked the HERE website and then the Ford map in my car. Both have been updated since my original post.

They stealth update (more or less). It’s transparent to the end user anyway. The real issue is the national database. There’s a portion of the cross island highway here that the database has had a speed limit listed at 45 mph. That was during construction 10 years ago. Really. The posted limit is 60 mph. The official limit though is 45 because nobody in the state DOT (it’s a state highway) ever bothered to update it and now won’t apparently. I used to use Here’s non intuitive software to report the error and get hit changed but always switched back next cycle.?

A interesting effect of this is that the car will decelerate to 45 at the designated spot and then about 100 yards later will go back to 60 mph because I have speed sign recognition turned on and there’s a 60 mph sign just past that. As always the driver is responsible anyway, which wile a pithy saying is also true.

one interesting part of the Ford nav system is that,if I have audible direction turned on, it does a quite decent job of pronouncing Hawaiian street names. Apple Msps? Yeah, no. It mispronounces those in two language , Hawaiian and Australian English. It’s funny sometimes though. Waze pronunciations are pretty indecipherable. First world issues.

My experience is with a 2021 F-150 - I've only had my 2024 Mach E for about one month now.

When I first moved into our home, neither Google nor Apple maps had our street listed, but the F-150 did. Our address did not come up in the F-150 Nav, so I used the latitude/longitude to identify "home". 18 months later, Ford, Google, and Apple all listed our address on their respective map services.

In the 4 years I've had my truck, it has proven to be the best on-board navigation system I've ever used. Only the Garmin system in our RV (integrated into a Kenwood stereo head unit) is (possibly) better, IMHO.

Not sure how often but I do notice on some of my back roads over here it has the wrong speed limit usually lower than the actual speed limit posted on signs but as soon as my car gets close to a sign it changes the speed limit and I remember reading somewhere that the Maki cameras do read speed limit signs and reflect them on the maps I believe or was that my Kia EV6?

My Ford Navigation is so out of date. How often does this refresh? I do not have any pending software updates, apparently.

Driving locally I can tell that it has not been updated. If it is not up to date locally, how am I to trust when I am travelling?

Yes, I use Apple Maps as a backup.

What are your experiences with getting Ford Navigation to update? Thank you!
I received my new Rapid Red 2024 Mach-E4X late March 2025. Both my wife and I think it's a great car but indeed there is a significant learning curve. The issue I have is that my house address is not recognized by the Sync navigation system. Checking with my local dealership, I was informed that there was nothing they could do and as long as I was receiving updates, I would eventually get them I was told that the maps are sourced from here.com. Indeed, when I went in to the here.com website I found that the map they had online did not show my home address. I filled out their request form to get it added and by the end of June it was showing on their online map. I reached out to them and asked so how does Ford get the updates they said that Ford would need to answer that question. Checking with a different dealership, they looked at it and said the Sync navigation should update whenever any updates are pushed out to the car. I asked about them getting the update and installing the update to my car manually and they said that there were no updates other than what I already had in the car. Is there anything I can do to get this update to my car. Last update I received was on 8/30 for the driver facing camera priority update. In fact the 3 updates I received were all Priority updates. P.S. Apple and Google both have my house on their map.. Is there anyway I can get this update ? Thanks, - JWG

You don't get incremental updates for the Nav, you get constant data updates as long as your "subscription" is active. So the question is, is your nav subscription active?
Sadly, when our auto map updates expired after 3 years, our maps reverted back to their pre-2021 state. This is the sleaziest thing I've seen. I wish Ford offered one-time updates for those that don't want to pay subscription fees. I was able to update our Expedition maps after 7 years with a single map update purchase.

Many 2021 owners had to wait 12 or more months before receiving needed updates. Then it was realized job2 was receiving updates before Job 1 vehicles.

It takes about 6 months for an update made by HERE to show up. I did it for a speed limit locally. Updated 6 months later. Then, 6 months later it reverted back. I didn't try again...
