I hate being on the right lane of the highway in BC. The damn car has no idea that a car ahead is about to merge and to give them space.
I have to tap on the brake most of the time.

For those of you that also have a Tesla:
I wonder if Tesla does a better job at that?

I have no idea about Tesla, but GM SuperCruise moves over for merging vehicles. If the left lane is open.

That’s nice.
Does it slow down if the left lane isn’t open?

I do not know for sure, I have only seen a video of it where the left lane was open. I think it would. When I get my Hummer this fall, I will let you know.

And is this something that BC 1.3 addresses?

You'll need to test with a different GMC vehicle. My understanding that the Hummer response to merging traffic is an automatic switch to WTF and then driving over the offending vehicle.

Sorry. I don’t believe BC reads the minds of drivers in other lanes.

Do you read their mind when you see a car in a merge lane? Most people use their blinker that the car should be able to see.

Maybe you’re one of them folks who speed up to block the merging traffic.

Either way you recognize they will have to merge and respond accordingly.

I tend to make room for merging traffic by slowing down or changing lanes if needed. Some people use a signal, some don’t. I am hyper aware of mergers because many want to make a break for the left lane. I would not expect my car to notice a turn signal or to know that the lane beside me is a merge lane.
