I have had my MME for almost six months and have yet to set up PAAK. Am I missing anything? Are there any downsides to setting us PPAK? Thank you

You are missing the Bluetooth functions.

After owning my car for 2 years now I finally set up Paak the other day. So far it has worked as it should with no problems yet. I will know more in a few weeks what benefits it provides..I do like the notification on my phone every time I walk away from car and it locks..

I believe you would get the same notification walking away with a fob.

It never did before. It started after I set up Paak. Unless I changed something in the settings while i was setting up Paak. I had to delete and re-download the FP app during the process maybe that changed settings.

The only downfall I experience is walking away from my car and forgetting to take my phone with me. All someone has to do...

I'd welcome a screen reminder to help.

I have not done it yet……my tech at the dealership said it drains phone battery pretty fast….is that true?

I used PAAK from the first day I picked up my MME. I have only carried a key fob once or twice during that time. It has worked perfectly. When I walk away, I receive the notification that my car is locked. No problems at all, and I love not carrying around a fob in my pocket.

I had it set up from delivery and for a couple weeks but turned it off. I don’t like that fact that if I’m in my house with my phone and I happen to walk close to my car that’s in the garage it constantly detects my phone, wakes up the car and now I have to worry about 12v battery draining issues. My kitchen is essentially on the other side of the wall from my garage so I either need to make it a habit of always keeping my phone a certain distance from the garage or my car always waking up. I turned it off.

Never had battery drain issues on phone or car with PAAK, my garage is right under a living area where I have my phone often.

Downside is sometimes it lags compared to key fob. It take a few seconds, sometimes more for the car to recognize you and let you unlock/open liftgate. Although a lot more rare these days sometimes it just won't work. You'll have back up keypad and passcode, although (again rare) even that won't work on a very rare occasion (had it happen to me).

If you decided to go PAAK (even considering the above issues I use it), I absolutely would not do it without a keyfob in the car in a Faraday bag/pouch as a backup.

Your car won’t automatically lock when you do that; you have to lock it manually with your fob. If you don’t you’ll come back to an unlocked car! Also it usually honks if you close your trunk and try to walk away.

If you do a search for PAAK issues here you will see many threads. Don’t believe the same is true for the fob. It just works, all the time.

I love PAAK. I got a Faraday pouch to hide a fob in the car as well just in case. The only drawback I have found is that the car and fob instantly recognize each other. Sometimes my iPhone and car need to "wake up" to connect.

Same here. I've not seen any battery drain issue in the year+ I've had my MME on Paak. I agree with the suggestion of using a Faraday bag as well. There are a lot of great places to hide a protected FOB in the vehicle, especially if you use adhesive velcro strips. Also, ensure that you set up the door code and backup start code to protect yourself in case of any contingency.

2023 GTPE we found PAAK and FordPass connectivity to be very beneficial. New phones required a delete / reset all and found each phone has 2 Bluetooth connections .

the convenience and features are exceptional for us … warm up the car b4 leaving , unlock car - open hatch and yes no keys ? needed .

A debate here threads - PAAK and FordPass open requirement
Yes PAAK can unlock car as you move close
But I can not start car without FordPass open
as well

so for us they are paired and required
We have ford rubber mats and rescue / foster move many dogs
A great run in a field or hike
Open the hatch from 30-50 feet away
Dogs in easily just one feature we like

just remember to find the keys when you take it for tire rotations
