The Drive Electric Week Drive in kicked off in Hilo Hawaii today. It finishes with an indoor show on Saturday October 19 also in Hilo.

This Foundation Series matte black Cybertruck generated a lot of good and bad buzz. It was not the truck whose owners got the most serious questions though. For that you had to go to Model E Alley, or Murderers Row if you prefer.
The two F-150 Lightnings on Display generated the most serious questions and interest. The one with the scuba tanks can hold 8 tanks securely and is owned by a European Auto Repair shop owner. Many of his tools were on display and secured.
The Model S in the background is a 2014 P85+ RWD. It’s in like new condition and is owned by the head of the statewide EV association. His other EV is a quite rare Blue Tesla Roadster, also in mint condition. It did not make an appearance this year.
My 2021 Premium, ER AWD in infinite blue was the only Mach-e in the show, though not the only one there. It generated a lot more interest than I thought it would. I spent most of the time near Otto answering questions. It seems to be in the size niche that many out here are looking for. It also had a frunk full of free drinks so …
2021 Premium AWD ER, Space white. This car was not in the show but is posted because its serial number is exactly 8 numbers below mine. It was built the same week and likely rolled out the door the same day. Originally delivered to Colorado it ended up here when the owners moved to Hilo. Small world.
BMW i4, Several Kia’s, several Hyundai’s, More than a few Leafs all made appearances.
The indoor show will have more cars and greater dealer participation with cars being shipped from Oahu by VW and Toyota plus the local Chevrolet Dealer, the BMW dealer, local Kia and the local Nissan dealers. I’ll miss that show as I’ll be in an all-day meeting on the other side of the island.

Five Mach-Es in total. A couple of Lightnings, a Cybertruck. a Lucid Air, couple Rivians, and many more. A very nice turnout with a lot of foot traffic.
I talked to a lot of people about EVs in general, and had a great time demonstrating how easy and inexpensive it can be to use a Mach-e for V2L by powering up my inductive cooktop and cooking up a few Brats for lunch!
