I got expected by many of us "Driver Facing Camera Fault" message on Sunday and had to make my return leg of road trip without BC. I called James Ford at Half Moon Bay, CA jamesford.com on Monday (today) and was invited to bring car as soon as I can. I brought car about 10 a.m. and it was ready by 4:30 p.m. As expected it required software update for camera module. I was very pleased with speed and service, but..... @Ford Motor Company why it's not covered by extended warranty or Ford? I had to pay $285 out of packet for software that was broken by Software Update that was pushed by Ford. There was no hardware failure, it's a known fact that this error caused by one of OTA's (it's clear bug in code). Yes, my Pony has 38K+ miles, but I have 84/125,000 Premium care EV plan. My service advisor apologized that his request to Ford Corporate to cover cost of Software update was denied. @Ford Motor Company , please correct me if I'm wrong, but if Ford developers will do another bug that will damage another software part than I had to pay out of packet again?! sound like unfair business practice.

Interesting. The camera fault was corrected under warranty (33,000 mile) as part of a problem with restraint lamp indicator fault. Don’t really know how, or if, the two are related, but it strikes me as very odd that Ford would not stand behind fixing a known issue. I would seek a detailed answer from the dealer’s management, and escalate if the answer seems out of line

Dealer provided official print out with FoMoCo denial to cover software fix. I’ll contact customer care if no reply from @Ford Motor Company here.

I had the front facing camera fault on my 22GTPE took into the dealer last month and sat for 3 weeks and they could do nothing about it until software engineering at Ford came up with a fix. Took the car back home and then a OTA came through and fixed it on March 25th. It is still under warranty
IMO I think the issue of why ford rejected the claim is that is it was available OTA. I would go back to the dealer and contest it with them.

I am not getting a fault so much, but lately I have been getting a warning that the front camera may be obstructed (like dirt). However when I look its clean.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

I have to drop my MME off next Wed for this problem. It popped up right after the Dec. 6.13 OTA. I had checked in withe service the other day to see if they knew when the new update was coming and was told that a service note had recently come in that stated it wasn't fixable via OTA and I had to bring it in. They also didn't have a resolution time-frame so I have to plan on leaving it all day.
My car is a 23 4x that is only 6 months old so it should be warranty. (better be...)
On a related note, this problem of course killed my BC after only a month of ownership. I was supposed to get a 3 month trial, so I have been on the sales rep about reclaiming those two months when the problem is fixed or some kind of deal with a renewal. We'll see.

Do you have the repair paperwork? I'm curious if it's just a matter of the IR eyes getting burnt out by the OTA or if the module gets hosed. It could be a small part for future repair down the road so long as the modules arn't so stupid that they have to be reprogrammed if it's just the IR piece above the wheel.
There's going to be a slew of this kind of stuff that will fall under "Right to repair" for all kinds of cars as they age. If it requires FRS or the likes that'd be Fords rebuttal but our pain and $. If it costs a fortune to upkeep as used the new car simply won't sell because of plummeting value around 3/36 like some European manufactures I don't need to name.

Point your service department about tsb mentioned in the thread. It should take 1.5-2 hours to apply fix

Purchased my 2023 Mach E on Tuesday and they delivered it today. On my test drive I got the "Driver facing camera" fault and told the salesman. He said they'd take care of it before it was delivered to me.

I should've known better. Glad my dealers an hour away.
