First off, sorry if this is a repeat thread but I haven't been here in a minute or two.
The Drivers display for the first gen Premium! Im not sure what update it was that Ford pushed out a few months ago, but they changed the way the information is displayed in various driving modes and I DONT like it.
I use the Engaged drive mode for various reasons and was fine with the layout on the DD (drivers display)up until they replaced the battery SOC indicator to the least informative version (the most-of-the-width-of-the-screen bar).
Sorry I like to see the digital representation of my SOC, i can tell instantly if I have enough charg to drive 60 odd miles to my other properties and now instead of a quick glance at the DD I now have to **** around to find that information and I dont like having to do that. Its distracting!
2 Solutions that can fix this.
1, just put the battety percentage in the bar.
2, (this is what I think most drivers would like) let the driver select how the information is displayed and how much is displayed.

For me I would like to be able to see live battery charge and discharge rates. Current power consumption.
You know, the information that every other manufacturer has on their DD.
If ford has reservations about alienating potential new customers, set it up with noobie/advanced user interface.

AND FOR CYING OUT LOUD GIVE US THE OPPTION TO MANUALLY PRECONDITION THE BATTERY FOR CHARGING!!!
You know, like most other manufacturers out there!
Im about ready to tell the wife to go get herself a new EV and I'll take her I4 M50!

in case you were unaware, a way to see mi/kwh is to go to the trip page on the main screen and then exit. This will put that info in the scrolling bar below the main display and above the climate controls.

Not in the display by your wheel, though, but pretty easy to checkout.

Our 2025 VW Buzz does offer several different views for the steering wheel area display, one of which includes trip info with mi/kWh. Would be nice to have more display options on our Mach E's...

It has been brought up before.

While you’re not alone in your dislike to the current soc display while in engage, the current display is also the original display used at launch. A lot of people complained about the numerical soc display change that occurred when the non centered speed OTA update was pushed to cars. It was changed back by Ford. Perhaps a compromise of placing a numerical readout of sic within the sic var display. That might satisfy both camps.

This is also why Ford can’t win. No matter what it does with the IPC or sync screen, someone is going to complain.

I keep my car in unbridled mode almost exclusively so I don’t have this issue.

I agree completely. They should an option for numerical or visual percentage preference. Ford thinks that Mach-E owners don't like information. You can add the percentage back to the driver's console by hitting the lane centering button on and off when you want to view it. Stupid, yes, but a workaround nonetheless.

No they don’t. They simply responded to an avalanche of complaints about exactly this issue by returning the display to its original format. You’re quite likely in the minority on this issue.

Personally I couldn’t possibly care less since I don’t use engage or whisper modes.

I'm pretty sure the complaints weren't about having a numeric percentage displayed. Fortunately, the space is still there to add back the percentage and keep the rest of the display as originally presented. They could also add the option to display the SOC in either fashion and satisfy everyone.

You would be wrong about that . There were complaints about the digital soc display. There were complaints about the non centered speed and pretty much everything else about that update. It was ill thought out out. But the soc gas tank like display was well liked. The fact that you or I might prefer a numerical readout display doesn’t make it the most desired configuration.

Okay, I'll take your word on that. Regardless, having an option for either would satisfy everyone, not that Ford would actually do it.

I agree it is super annoying; I generally leave lane assist turned on just so I have a numerical SoC display (but then have to turn it off when using cruise control because I don't want the car trying to steer for me 🙂).

They already have the logic and UI to do it; they would just need an additional checkbox in Settings. But given how many other seemingly trivial software features they manage to screw up on a regular basis, at this point I'd prefer they not try to mess with it.

Ford doesn't usually give options. Things are either on all the time, or they're able to be turned off. Customization isn't an option.

A simple workaround for this, turn on the distance indicator. This will bring back the car avatar and you won't have to worry about lane centering
