Drivers window switch snapped in half!

Happy Sunday all. My first mistake was letting my 17 year old borrow my MACH E to take his girlfriend home. Now drivers window switch is snapped in almost half. Anyone else have this problem? Do I have to remove door panel to replace it?

Driver Door Window Control Switch

Removal
NOTE: Left hand drive (LHD) shown, right hand drive (RHD) similar.

1. Remove the front door trim panel.
Refer to: Front Door Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and
Installation) .

2. Remove the driver door window control switch.
1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the driver door window control switch.
2. Remove the screws from driver door window control switch.
3. Remove the driver door window control switch from the bezel assembly.

Installation
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

My guess is that they weren't in a traditional seating position when this happened...

Be sure you get the right configuration for your vin...

https://www.fordpartsgiant.com/oem-ford-mustang_mach_e-window_switch.html has them for around $71 new. There are different switch clusters for cars with varying options, so you need to be sure of what you're ordering.

That's illegal in my state, unless the girl is over age 25, in which case, good for him! They don't like young people driving other young people without an older adult in the car. I imagine it's legal in your state and you were being a good dad.

Are you still able to make the broken switch work?

Varies by state. I’m all for drivers under 18 to only drive themselves.

Lil crazy glue and its good ... for now. Will buy new switch unit and let my kid fix it. Will have to have that man to man discussion tho.

Somewhat related but, without (sadly) any racy connotations, one of my window switches is missing the little chrome trim as it must have detached on the first owners watch. No effect on functionality but my OCD is troubled by it.

Does anyone happen to know if it can be purchase separately or do I need to buy a complete switch?

That trim is part of the switch assembly and is not serviced separately. If your OCD thinks it’s worth $70-80 and an hour or less to get the panel off the door, swap the switch assembly, and reinstall, go for it. If your inner bean counter outweighs your OCD, listen to it.

In what turned out to be a quick conversation with my OCD, my more powerful cheap bastard quickly shut him up. They came to an agreement that surfing eBay may net a switch from a salvaged Mach E that could yield a much cheaper solution
