I tried it today. The valet couldn't drive the car without my fob or my phone.
Not to big a deal for me. I have decided to just carry my fob like always. Not just for valet but works 100% of the time for everything. Just to much hassle to give start codes and not leaving a valet my phone until I am ready to leave. There is only one of me so not big deal just another reason for 2 fobs if you are partnered up. Just ford pushing paak but valet screen says use fob to valet.

Wow, that is not how I expected Valet mode to work... definitely something wrong with the implementation IMO. But great to know - am getting my 2nd fob programmed on Monday.

me either. the humor was not lost on me for it to tell me to use the FOB for valet. Even though Ford wants you to use PAAK.

Well, it worked like a charm for me. I tested it at home, and here is how I did it:
  1. Got in and used my car with Paak
  2. Went into settings, and pressed Valet
  3. It gave a number (5+3 digits)
  4. I turned off my phone (to disable paak)
  5. Even though it said No key, I drove off
  6. I turned off the car, exited and locked the doors
  7. I re entered the car using the Valet code (first 5 digits)
  8. When I Started the car, the screen took 30s to bootup. Then asked me for the full code (8 digits).
  9. Car started correctly
  10. I drove off
  11. When I re started my phone, I could Quit the Valet mode
  12. Voilà

Step #8 troubles me. If a valet hustling and has to wait 30 seconds, they are going to think something is wrong. 30 seconds is a long time to wait for someone not familiar with a MME. Glad to know valet mode works though.

I see that this thread is over 3 years old. Does anyone have recent experience with using the Valet mode? I recently had to have a tire repaired. I don't carry the fob. I had to leave my phone in the car because they would not let me drive it into the garage. Assuming the Valet mode works as described by SebastianMachE, how receptive are garages and valets to use this mode? Do they have a process to record the code or do they look at you like you are from Mars? TY
