My car was at the dealer for two weeks getting the SOBDM replaced due to not being able to charge. Since I've had it back, I've been getting an error every couple of days: "Electrical System Drain Service Required... possibly caused by after-market device(s)". This message usually happens after sitting all night, but not every night. I have nothing after-market nor plugged in. My range also seems to be about 40% less than before, although Fall weather also arrived.

I searched the forum and there were a few threads back in February and March with no follow up of resolutions. Has anyone else seen this error recently? Not looking forward to another couple weeks without the car...

This could be caused by a failing 12V battery or old software, I believe those were the causes in those previous cases. Pop off the covers under the frunk and connect a 12V battery charger overnight. If you still get the error after charing up the 12V then it needs to go back to the dealer, 12V battery might be bad or could need further software updates because it's not keeping it charged. I would think they updated all the powertrain modules during your repair, but perhaps not.

It's possible the 12V got drained down or neglected when it was in the shop, so this might be showing up as it gets colder.

Thanks. I'll throw the battery charger on it and see what happens. They did spend the entire first day in the shop installing updates. The HVB charge status did drop over 10% that day with no miles driven, so perhaps they didn't hook it up to a charger while updating and drained/damaged the 12v.

I think their first trouble shooting step is to install all updates and see if the reported problem goes away before digging in further.

I could be wrong but this alert indicates the car is transferring power from the the HV battery to the 12v battery. It is operating as designed but the car is worried about the amount of power it is transferring. Mine does the same alert for months now. Ever since a botched PaaK update. Don't ask me why that triggered it but it did. I have it scheduled for a check next week. Lets see what they find.

My car gave me this alert also. I got a wrench icon on the dash with a service soon message. I looked it up and my car is throwing many diagnostic trouble codes from various modules. I dropped it off at the dealership today. I’m hoping they will see the TSB notices and update the software.

Mine's been showing that alert for a while now. No accessories. I'm taking it in for service soon. Regarding updates - I thought they were supposed to be OTA. How do you know which updates you have installed on the car?

I got the same error after getting 21P22 (they didn’t do all of it). It has been showing up every morning when I start the vehicle since last week. Error pops up for about 5 seconds and disappears ‘til the next morning.

She is going in for the windshield recall next week (and hopefully the rest of 21P22). I will mention it to the dealer see what they say.
