I noticed this last night at one of my three EA charge stops with my Lightning that it showed a new value, "Charge speed requested by your vehicle":

Ford Mustang Mach-E ElectrifyAmerica units starting to show "Charge speed requested by your vehicle" 1672497958933

The other two stops didn't show this, so it's something mid-rollout apparently.

(the reason I mention the vehicle is to explain the higher rate - the larger cell count facilitates a higher speed... I don't want anyone to misunderstand and think this is showing a higher speed on a Mach-E).

This has been a feature for a while but for some reason not all units show it

That's a bogus number. I trust their chargers about as far as I can throw them. This is EA just trying to make it look like your vehicle is the problem (so you won't bother them with a complaint) when it clearly is a slow/damaged charger problem.

This weekend I attempted three charging sessions on a unit in Salinas (15% SOC, 60 degrees). It claimed my vehicle was requesting 9kw! The charger then shut down all three times after less than a minute, and my car threw a 'charger fault' error. I came back later and it connected and said my car was requesting 35kw (after a while that number rose to 45kw and stayed their for half an hour).

This despite the fact that I had charged on two of their other units on my trip down and my car requested in the 70-80kw range with no issues.

Lots of Plugshare checkins complaining of slow charging, and the ID4 next to me was only getting 35kw as well (around 40% SOC). There was another car on the other side of me, and I asked the driver if it was running slow. She just shook her head and mumbled 'Yeah'...

EA is lying to your face.

In this example, I t’s showing that the vehicle is requesting 171 and only 163 is being delivered. There are no reasons that those numbers would be lies.

I meant bogus in general (not necessarily the OP's example). If your car is requesting 170kw and it CAN deliver 170kw, it will. If it can only provide 100kw, it's going to tell you that your car is requesting 100kw so that you think your vehicle is the problem, not their charger.

It's like when my streaming service tries to tell me that my internet connection is the problem, despite the fact that I've been streaming no problem with my other services. They don't want you to blame them.

Part of the problem is that Ford doesn’t tell us anything. Requested rate and actual rate should show in the car.

I agree. Ford needs a display screen that shows some info about our charging rate/temperature/requested power/etc. It's frustrating that if I am at a charger with a busted screen I have to rely on apps to let me know what I'm charging at. I almost wasted an hour once because the charger I was hooked to was only charging at 27kw. Luckily I happened to check the Chargepoint app before I had walked too far away.

I'm totally with you on this one. Ford needs to have at least some display of charging rate in kW, preferably on screen. Most (free) public chargers have no interface so you have absolutely no idea how fast you are charging. I would like to know how fast my home charger that came with the car is charging, but I can't tell. This seems to be a basic measurement that they seem to have overlooked.
I took it one step further and called the Ford BEV support line. The guy went through the manual and said, it will only show you when the car will be charged at your desired percentage and how many miles you added. It does not show you the charging rate in real time.
I then asked to see if he can submit a feature request to add this information on the next OTA update. But unfortunately, they have no way of doing that. He did say that all the calls are recorded, and maybe someone maybe listening and take it from there. LOL, SMH...

Not gonna happen in all likelihood. Same reason the makers long ago stopped installing voltmeters and oil pressure gauges that actually had needles that moved instead of just going to a set position and staying there unless a catastrophe occurred. Then those gauges just disappeared totally and idiot lights replaced them. The Less information available to the average numbnut customer the better in their eyes.
