Electronic Handbrake Behaviour

I am posting this poll following issues with my handbrake behaviour.

When I bought the car and up until recently I could apply some throttle input in Drive whilst the handbrake was applied and the handbrake would remove itself and I could drive away.

One morning this behavior broke and when trying to pull away the handbrake wont remove and a message is displayed "Depress brake pedal and remove handbrake" This behaviour has persisted and all handbrake removals must be completed with a manual press of the switch now.

Coinciding with this change in behaviour my Hill Hold broke and warning messages to that effect was displayed. The car wont hold on an incline and rolls backwards.

Further to this I can no longer enable the Auto Hold option in settings.

Given this I am largely confident there is a fault somewhere and it wasnt just a case of a software update chaning the handbrake behaviour.

That being said I am interested to hear what other peoples handbrake behaviour is. Im in a UK AWD Extended Range.

I’ve had to always release my handbrake. Live in a flattish area so no hill assist info from me.

Never had to take mine off...just disengages.

I only start using it when I realized that it gets released automatically and I don't need to remember to do it manually. Didn't have any problem with it.

Mine disengages automatically and also engages on steeper inclines when shifting to park. Actually I don’t usually even shift to park anymore. Now I just open the door.

I always release my parking brake manualy but if I forget then the car will do it for me when I try to move the car.
