Thats exactly what I said. Growing up in the 50 and 60s.
You said things are way worse now…….luckily they aren’t.

They were way worse 30 years ago though.

And that’s just crime rates. It’s pretty easy to argue that society as a whole is a lot kinder to each other than they were 60-70 years ago as well. Despite what the news tries to tell you.

How about peace and goodwill toward men ...
This is another reason why I felt bad about yelling at the kid parking in the space, and why I have stopped putting flyers on hoggers. It still makes me mad, but does it reflect God when you escalate something into conflict when it can be avoided? I am still human, and this human is still a work in progress...

One day, when no charging is "free", it will be a lot easier...

How much charge could you possibly get on a Level 2 while shopping? Maybe if it were the movie theater, but doesn’t seem worth it for a shopping trip.

There have been multiple times when I needed just another 5% to safely make it home. In those cases, charging while eating dinner is very helpful.

I agree. It’s not significant and often a source of conflict. Hotels and other places where you spend 6+ hours are great spots for level 2s. Shopping malls, low powered level 3s at reasonable prices would be great. Blink just released a 30 kW level 3 charger for a few thousand dollars. That charger would be a great application for shopping malls. You’d get 50 kWh in 1.5 hours and get on your way.

Or you could put it in your garage. Is it really that cheap?

Yes. I’m still waiting for their loser sales guys to reach out after making several inquiries, but the unit should be around $9k. It would also work perfectly for a residential community like ours — book the charger in two hour increments.

OK, $9k is a little spendy for my home. I imagine the power service upgrade would be thousands also. Probably need 480V 3 phase service.

The unit may be that cheap, but how much for the electric infrastructure to make it work?

Just get a government grant then add your house to the Ford charging network. ?

Actually I may be on to something here. ?

It depends. Without breaking a sweat or doing any load studies, I know that our condo bldg has 300-400 amp of 480v available, good for 3-4 units. Running 25 ft of wire and conduit plus scanning and coring concrete is roughly $5k. Say you spend another $5k for licensing, inspections, and other fees. We’d still be under $20k.

I’ve attended a lot of webinars by ChargePoint about condo installations and they always reiterate that older buildings have gotten more efficient over time and likely have power available. Many developers agree with their assessments and share use cases where they added stations without the need for new service.

"Please move your car when it's done charging so that other vehicles can use the charger. I see you're always parked here at 100%. I've informed management and they are considering their options to tow your vehicle if this occurs again."
