EV Routing For Apple Maps Now Available Via Carplay & SYNC in Mach-E

New today! Apple released EV Maps Routing with iOS 15.4. Apple Maps EV Routing supports planning your long electric vehicle journeys via CarPlay in your Mustang Mach-E. Apple Maps will use your iPhone to read vehicle and battery data when connected to CarPlay and assist you on your journey by adding chargers into your trip as necessary.

This feature is available on all 2022 Model Year Mustang Mach-E and 2021 Model Year Mustang Mach-E with updated SYNC software. Learn more about the feature and confirm if you have the applicable SYNC software version here.

Yes...very frustrating.... Even using FDRS for updates, APIM Sync Software is NOT available above 1.7.1 (EU/UK)

I just got the 21P22 CSP Update yesterday and did a reset of the car this morning. I now have the Update toggle functioning again and the set time for updates. I’m hopeful I’ll get one soon. I suggest going to your dealer and get this update.

Check the various 1.7.1 threads. There have been some developments regarding a fix the past week.

Thank you, Ford, for this post and clear how-to in your link. The system and its setup seem to work as described, though I've not tried it out on a long trip yet.

FWIW, my car is from Job 1. I've had the 21P22 recall at the dealer, plus various OTA updates through 2.3.0, but not yet anything related to Blue Cruise or the remote operation of the front trunk.

I used this again today, and there are couple of downsides. One is relatively minor: the EV routing is only an option if you initiate routing from your phone - there did not seem to be a way to choose it from the Sync screen. The second was a little more concerning: AppleMaps really likes to switch you over to the "fastest" routing at the earliest chance. When I left home this morning, I was about about 100 ft down the road when I realized I forgot something. When I turned around, Maps rerouted me onto a divided highway which was only part of the "fastest" routing. On my drive home, somewhere along the way, I again got re-routed onto "Fastest". I had to manually cancel my route, then unlock the phone, and reselect my destination and the EV route.

I forgot how much battery I was predicted to have at the end of the outbound journey. On the way back, it said I would have 38% battery on arrival. I got home with 46% which is a pretty big error on a 65 mile journey. but I had a 20mph tailwind most of the way home.

It's frustrating to buy this car and not have updates up to date. And let's not talk about the opening of the frunk...

Wondering if this is going to route me to a L2 charger for 4 hours or go 5 miles further to the EA DC fast chargers.

There is a filter option to strictly map out dcFast chargers.

So far my initial impressions are good, mapped from Windermere to EA dcFast charger in Brunswick GA and its route was pretty accurate, it added one more charger because my current SOC was low.

Yes, I know, but in Europe only Job2 have 1.7. We don't know of any units with 2.x

Interesting! Can you filter the charging speed? The Ford onboard navigation has a similar filter but a 25kW DC charger counts as ‘fast’. Really need to have a filter for 150+ kW chargers to be worthwhile for road trips.

No ... and I agree that a 25 kW dcFast charger is not a dcFast cahrger !!! ...but at least its description identifies who it is, i.e. EA, chargePoint, FPL, etc... It is basically Apple Map on iOs v.15.4. The EV feature is best when CarPlay is connected and it does show the current SOC... as far I am concerned Ford BLue Oval Network is a farce, the only dcFast chargers that I use on my road trips is that of EA... so I use exclusively EA period ... the others are a waste of time !!!

I always thought I was on the latest software as a Job 2 car (7/21 build date), but I am not getting this feature on my Premium MME. checked the Sync version and looks like im behind: SYNC 4 Software Version: 21180 _PRODUCT
