Grok and ChatGPT have CarPlay support. Both are excellent. Far more useful than saying, "Hey Siri, what is...". Unfortunately, you do have to initiate them manually.

I prefer Claude, but Grok and ChatGPT are awesome, too. Perplexity is an option as well.

Doesn’t Siri already use ChatGPT?
It will if you ask it to. I don’t know if the results are the same as asking the native app, or if it knows and remembers your other chats, the way the app does.

On the android auto side the Google Assistant was replaced in my car with Gemini. So anytime I say "hey google" I get gemini. It is a HUGE improvement, most notably around navigation.

"hey google, in about an hour we want to stop to charge and want quick food that is walkable within a half mile...." Usually this would be the convo with my wife and she would search, now Gemini is filling that role.

This was useful. I have been using Alexa to answer rings we think on trips. ChatGPT is my go to for Desk and phone. I did not know it was an option for CarPlay.

On another note I still don't have the ford app. It just says they are doing a phased roll out when I click on the ICON.

This is a reference to the new Ford app that has appeared in the car, on the big SYNC screen. In some vehicles it is functional providing basic info etc. Yet in others it has not yet been activated to function, and is just an icon on the app screen that when clicked announces that it is "coming soon" or something similar.

Edit: Oops, must clarify, this is an app in Apple CarPlay NOT actually installed among apps from Ford that are resident in the car's SYNC system, e.g. Navigation, Charging, etc.

I had to disable Gemini. I found it absolutely infuriating. The biggest problem is I cannot get it to shut up. I want to ask a question. Then I want it to do what I ask or give me the best answer it has and then I want it to stop. It keeps asking follow-up questions.

I found my self repeatedly asking it to stop. Most of the time it wasn't listening because it was blabbing on. One time I said cancel and instead of cancelling what it was doing, it instead cancelled my entire route in Google maps and I had to re-enter my way-points and destination.

You need an option to disable follow-up questions. Especially when you are driving a car. If I need to know something else, I'll ask another question. Or rephrase the one I asked. If I could do this, I would use Gemini. As is, I won't.

Oh yeah, even at home, as soon as I get my answer, "thanks Gemini, nothing else" or you can use the cancel hangup button with your thumb.

I do like how it doesn't listen to the kids or wife while I drive, it said it focuses on the driver and their needs
