I usually drive in Engage, but I noticed today that the "drag" or regen effects were much greater than I expected when I lifted my foot off the accelerator. I was in Engage and so I switched to Whisper and the effect almost disappeared. I switched back to Engage and it almost felt as if the car was fighting against some sort of drag when i tried to just coast. I know there is going to be some regen effect, but this seemed extreme. Is this just me?

If you are going downhill (at low speeds?) you'll get much higher regen braking..
1st time it happened to me, freaked me out.

Maybe the car thinks you're in Unbridled mode. I would try to unplug the 12V cable for 15 minutes and plug it back in to reset the car.

Sometimes my engaged mode feels like whisper on decel and sometimes it feels like unbridled. Perks of having computer controlled systems I guess.

Check to see if L mode is on. Make sure its off, that’s a max regen mode. Document each time this occurs if it continues, and get it to a dealer.
I drive in Engage and purposefully select 'L' for the extra 'drag'. Sometimes I can go an entire trip without using any braking until I park somewhere, store or home garage. Not only is it not a problem with me, I prefer it.

Any chance you grabbed the wrong key or have the wrong profile active? We had this problem with having two PAAK-enabled phones in the car when the profile is selected for the incorrect driver or the guest profile, which has different settings. We solved the issue by setting all profiles (including Guest) to the same settings.
Have also seen updates cause the switch on Sync to show an incorrect state - Shows 1PD OFF but it is really ON. This can be fixed by toggling the switch like @MacherAWD says above.

I would also try toggling L mode on and off again with the button in the middle of the shifter dial, just to see if it has some stuck setting...

OP, I know you said that you're not in 1 pedal mode, but you are describing 1 pedal mode. Make sure it didn't sneak itself on...
