I’ve had my car for 3 months now, and over the last few weeks I’ve started to notice a vibration in the dead pedal area under my left foot. It’s not a lot, almost like a phone level of vibration. I haven’t been able to figure out what the circumstances are that cause it. It seems to be road surface dependent though. An older rougher pavement makes it more pronounced, while on newer smoother pavement it basically disappears. I don’t feel anything in the wheel or pedals. It doesn’t get more pronounced the faster I go, either there or not.

It’s entirely possible this has been there since day 1 and I’m just now hyper focused on it. I’ve now convinced myself that something is lose and is vibrating and going to snap off, but I’m also crazy paranoid about the car. ?

Does anyone else feel this?

I am not experiencing any vibration through the dead pedal but have a suggestion or two.

Check and see if your tire appears to be wearing evenly and/or look for evidence of missing wheel balancing weights (inside of rim). Also check for loose lug nuts.

Other possibilities are bad strut shock....check for signs of leaking and lastly, look for missing plastic fasteners for the inner wheel well and under body panels.

I hope it is something simple.

On my Mazda the dead pedal is a Styrofoam filler added (glued) when the decision is made not to mount the pedals on the right side. I'll bet the MME floor pan is ambidextrous and there is a similar filler under the carpet.

See if you can determine that it has come loose.

Perhaps the shipping blocks were left in the coil spring on the drivers side?
I tried to look for that, but didn’t see anything. I wasn’t sure exactly where to look though to be honest.

It’s definitely not that. I know that feeling from when snow gets caught in the tires during the winter. It’s way more subtle of a vibration. I’ll check your other suggestions today, thanks!

no doubt you've checked tire pressure. It's odd that you don't notice the vibration except with the dead pedal.

Oh ya, tire pressure is fine. If I put my foot flat on the floor I can very very faintly feel it, but it’s most noticeable on the dead pedal area. That’s what makes me hopeful it’s not something wrong with a wheel or the suspension. Even I the dead pedal it’s a subtle vibration. Like imagine your cell phone was under the floor mat and vibrating.

Tire appears to be even, the cars only 3 months old though.

I looked in the wheel well, and I’ll admit I have no idea what normal looks like, but nothing was obviously wrong. See pics.

Checked, didn’t see them.

I actually discovered the dead pedal is just a piece of trim that’s held on by 3 clips. So I removed it and checked underneath. Find some electrical connections, but nothing obviously wrong. Re-seated the clips, so maybe that will help.

here are some pics of inside the wheel, shout if you see something I missed ?

On FWD and IRS cars a torn CV joint cover will sometimes make some noise at it flaps around, but yours seem OK.

Thanks for the pics inside the wheel wells, I was surprised to see the sway bar link so long and attaching high up on the strut versus the lower control arm.
