Just a FYI for other users Tire Rack just updated its testing and the Michein CC2 was just dethroned and is no longer best in class. the new Vredestein's Quatrac Pro+ is now the best all-weather tire available it's also a better value. Having run them for a few years this is no surprise to me Vredestein has been making all-weather tires since 1990

Having problems finding the Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ at any other stores besides Tire Rack ... could that be why Tire Rack rates them so high?

Around here, Les Schwab Tire carries Vredestein but it looks like the closest one to you is almost 4 hours away in Moorhead.

Maybe, some tires do have an inside and outside

This is a guess on my part but I don't think the CC2 has an inside and outside. Likely Michelin desingened the tire this way because it's needed so you can properly rotate the tires. To properly rotate directional tires they need to be dismounted and flipped so they maintain the proper rotation direction.
You’re right, asymmetric tyres do have an inside and an out, they’re usually marked by “Outside” instead of an direction of rotation arrow and can be “properly” rotated diagonally front to rear.

CC2s are unidirectional so can be fitted to either side of car but on one side the date code is visible on outside whilst when fitted on the other side of car the date codes are hidden on the inside.

Unidirectionals can only be switched from front to rear on same side unless tyres are taken off the wheels and turned around which is just too much arse for me.

Many don't know Tire Rack has a wholesale division. Any car dealer and most retailers can buy from TR wholesale. If you want to buy Vred in MSP I would recommend any of the discount tire locations, likely they won't know much about the tires as they too have preferred brands. You can also order from TR and pick from their installer network (they do prefer Discount Tire) with a side note TR has a warehouse near Roseville MN and the tires can be picked up locally if you want.

An advantage to Michelin is that they are available through local wholesale so they are easier to find and most dealers have at least heard of and understand Michelin is a premium tire. Vredestein is much newer to the US market (2019 USA launch) but I point them out because they are awesome. The Quatrac Pro+ being asymmetrical is a better fit for the MME.

When I lived in the SF bay area, I dealt with a couple of small independent auto repair shops and they would all purchase from TR for their customers needs.

Me personally, I order all my tires from TR direct and they are delivered to my home either next day or following day at the latest. They have a warehouse in Nevada just a few hours away. I remove my wheels, have a mobile tire car come to my home and mount/balance the tires then I reinstall them on the car. Have done this for almost 10 years now.
